is it just me or are more and more newbies just skiping the intro prosess all together?then they wounder why someone jumps on there **** because of a remark they posted or thred started.ive seen as many *** 3 nfg in one thred that never did a introw.first thing i do when i see a **** talker or dumb post or thred is look at there profile.
maybe you shoulndnt be able to post untill your intro is comeplete,i see countless times when some one doesnt even do an intro or take the time out to even figure out what this board is even about.cuz it sure aint about being new and differant.
its about taditional hot rods and kustoms period..
maybe even a probation period where you have to lurk for 2 weeks
then do your intro then your free to do what ever.
is it just me with this crazy notion just in my head and most newbies are doing intros what do you guys see is it even a problem
DO A DAMB INTRO:DOR ILL HUNT YOU DOWN

I agree with Alex on the intro thingy. There should be some sort of block and Ryan or other moderators would look over the Newbies post then proceed and welcome them. KNUX!

Isn't there some kind of "welcome email" that comes after you register that says something to the effect of "Don't be a **** - post an intro" or some such deal?

It might not be too hard to make posting an intro & profile at the time of registration a reality. A few "This field is required" popup windows that don't allow you to continue with the registration until they're filled out could solve it.

  6. ok then where are the rules in print...????
    i never saw them..
its like walking in a house party invited or not ...sometimes you just get to tap the keg have a snack and join the fun sometimes you get hit in the back of your head then beat up robbed and thrown out on your ***..

if this place were not open to all who sign up then i would understand this intro biz ...and newbie hatred

so lets scareoff any one who could contribute just cuz they are new..????
hazing is natural to new members some don't ever want the h***le and some like giving the h***le best....
believe me i tolerated some ******** bs and was unaware of any protocol ..
(note red mark by my name from very first 3 posts)
i just hung around until some folk were actually were offering a hand to shake . i still feel that some would jump me and stab me if they had a chance..just for capitalizing words!
the writtin word is a powerful thing..
a group this large will have dissent and some with open arms ....
i have met/know maybe a handful of hamb members and they are good people the rest ... i am optimisticaly hopeful.

i am stll here enjoy the whole process and have had posts, pics, pulled that were the same content as others with stars.... mostly cuz it was my post and i needed scrutiny?

i also feel that having a open forum for this topic is great.. any way, any how, any time
lets all get hotrods outa the garages and go..

merry xmas and happy new year

It has gotten bad lately. But shoot 20k+ members.......bound to be a few illiterates.

As per the topic at hand. I can't count the times, I've seen a guy post something, and then gone and searched his Intro just to see who the hell I'm talking to and reading what they are about.

  9. I don't know if any of you guys here are on members on the Bad***mofo.com forum, but over there, they just flame and ban the newb's to oblivion if you get out of line.... That may be a bit extreme for the hamb but I am a member on another forum that wont allow you to post anywhere on the forum until you've started a thread in the "newbie" section, and nothing in the cl***ifieds section for 30 days after the date of your first post.

Think it out carfully. I was one of thoose FNG that can't read instructions ( seem I have a Tim Allen poster around here that refers to that subject. ).
I was a retired SCCA road racer that stumbled on this board with a STREET Rod project, and I am now 13 months latter collecting parts for one traditional HOT Rod project.
And I have attended two traditional events The 2006 HAMB drags and the 2006 Pileup. With the freindships and the Information I have gathered here I should have quit road racing earlier.
I am also working on a tech article to post with in a month.
So just be carfull how you treat dummies like my self that wander in here you never know what they may turn into

I see a lot of people who come to talk about things totaly off topic stuff. There are guys showing up here who, regardless of into or no intro, dont even own traditional hot rods or customs. You look at their profile, and they own muscle cars or foreign cars. Its always thse guys too who wanna talk about "rat rods" too. Anyone here to talk about "rat rods" obviousely hasnt lurked long enough to find that this probably isnt the right board for them.

Also, I keep seeing people post their newly aquired stock antique vehicle, and a whole bregade of guys will come along and go "looks great as it is, just drive it!". Yea its nice to be driving an old car, but this is a trad rod and custom board. a stock 46 ford business coupe (the latest case of the above mentioned trend) is not a hot rod or custom. Trad hot rod and custom cars is about cutting up cars and molding them into a personal expression of yourself, not just driving Henry's or Harleys Earl's personal expression. I see a lot of embracing of the total opposite of what this board stands for.

  20. If this didn't happen you wouldn't have a reason to get your ******* in a knot and post a rambling scred on line. Maybe you ought to have potential customers fill out a purchase application to see if they meet your standards to make a purchase from you.........

That's the ticket........pre-approved customer forms. Ought to be great for business.

You are just the typ of idiot to make a comment like this, the oldest car you own is a '64 Plymouth Fury and it belongs to your wife (according to yourself)! You miss the whole point of this forum, we're not about muscle cars, we are about Hotrods and Cl***ic Customs and no your cars do not qualify as hotrods or customs! You are the perfect example of the typ of guy that should not be allowed to post until you hang arround long enough to figure out what we are about!

Wow you sound alittle bitter. I've heard he has turned customers away. And that's cool because he's got something good going on over there and it is building some sick*** hotrods and customs. What's cool is that in the end no matter what he can say he did it his way. And I don't see that end coming any time soon so just keep doing what you're doing Alex the majority of us are enjoying it!

    Here's some food for thought:

It seems to me that the introductions were a formality that offered all of us some useful information. I'm not sure why they're not required anymore, but It's my humble opinion that all new guys should be encouraged to complete the intro.

Are we corresponding with someone next door or 2000 miles away? Are we attempting to purchase or sell something to someone we don't know anything about? Should we care about who they are? Who the members are? Where they are located?

While many of us might know eachother, there are still many more we don't know anything about, much less their 1020.

I'll go with the flow - just tell me what to do to maintain my status as a member and guest of this site. I'm no different than anyone else here, it's understood that all of us enjoy the site and all it has to offer.

It's like the Golden Rule, he who owns the H.A.M.B. makes the rules:eek: .

When we're done reading and commenting about this topic, let's take those hotrods out of the garage and DRIVE THEM!

    Viva La H.A.M.B.!:D

  28. I think it was Rashy who said"If a FNG does not post an intro, don't buy from him/her.A great idea. Also I read an intro the other day from a FNG that listed his occupation as"Doing your Momma" or some such ****.My Mother died last year and I was offended by this idiot. How many things do you think that I will be buying from this ****head? Also another guy said that the HAMB is(or should be) restricted to owners of "traditional hot rods and custom cl***ics"My present car is a 61 Belair bubbletop does that mean that I can't belong?I have bought parts from hambers(giving them money)and sold things to hambers(so they have the parts that they needed)I am also an alliance member and bought the hamb calender.and lets face it,who needs a $25. calender?I support the HAMB because I enjoy the comraderie,I appreciate the years of knowledge ac***ulated by Hambers and I BELONG to the HAMB even tho I "only" have a 61 Belair.(Did I mention that its a bubbletop?)
