As an intereactive presentation project for Digital Media class, with Ryan's permission, I'll be showing the connection between the progress of my Project '57 through networking with you all, while also showing how a site like this, through web interactivity, shortens the miles and bridges the gap among gearheads of varying digital media literacy.
I'm actually posting this while in lab- can ya tell?
As part of the presentation, I'd like to provide links to other HAMBers, so the classmate can jump around and get a sampling of those that participate at this cyber garage.
For those that are interested, PM/email me yer ideas and links, I'll contact you with how I intend to present ya.
It's hard to summarize this, but I hope this makes sense.
I'll email copies of it to whoever is interested, or even better, post the link here.
What do you all think? Would like yer feedback. I'm really glad I found this site, and just wanted to exhibit how it's been helpful and fun.

not sure if i really get it, but if it's for the sake of education, go for it! i can provide info on me and/or my project car if u want, but ill tell ya now that i have not actually built this car yet. the only parts i have for sure are a am/fm stereo, about $235, and a hand grenade (for the shift knob) and a .50 BMG round for the turn signal contoller or the e-brake lever. i can still give info, but i think that it was best we clear any confusion up firsthand. thanks

Now that I'm back home, have some sufficient bondo snot goin' and some pale ales under the belt, I'll explain further- this project is for a computer class showing how to use the Microsoft program Power Point.
Along with that, we're learning how to create "web-friendly" or interactive computer presentations.
I initially signed up for the class to improve my "digital literacy", or things like creating web pages, links, digital photography, stuff like that, that you find throughout the HAMB. Now you know why I daydream of bein' on the HAMB so much while sitting in class.
Plus, the Math class I need to re-take was full. Anyway:
So for a Final project, I need to make a presentation that is interactive. A classmate should be able to "click around" on it. I figured why not show the connection between the progress on my hot rod and involvement on this message board. Both elements take up much of my daily life, might as well funnel that into a Final project.
There aren't many gearheads in the class, in fact hot rod projects are a real novelty to them, so (judging by an intro presentation I'd shown them) it interests them with its unique-ness. All the more reason.
As part of the project, I'd like it if HAMB'ers could provide a link of an intro of themselves as a car enthusiast- even if you don't own a car, but have a particular liking for, say, low-buck fat fendered rides, and are even planning such a project. And, too, the reasons you find the HAMB to be a cool and helpful "interactive community" of fellow low-buck fat fendered enthusiasts.
I don't mean for it to be an ad for the HAMB ["Joooin uuusss... JOIN ussss..."], but thought it would make for a great example. Plus, I get to work more with you guys and get class credit for it, heh heh. Hope that clears it up more.
Gotta get back into the shop. Let me know if yer interested, even if yer still unclear about it, ask me more, I don't mind. To an extent. [IMG]

........hey, I'll be a good one. I'm a "non-traditional" guy allowed to exist (and have been treated VERY well, I might add...) in a "traditional" world. My interest is HAMB style, but I don't have a "traditional" vehicle at this time. I have been allowed to "live" here and have made untold friends over the past few years and learned a LOT! It's all thanks to THIS Forum!!

Damn, it's near Finals time already?! Gettin' towards deadline, and would like any extra links or profiles you could contribute, to show the class part of the HAMB's personality makeup. Thanks! I'll pm you back and let you know how I'd use it, first.

This is all helping out really well, littleduece, that's quite a link, which part is your section, with pics of your ride/rides?
So far I've got Skate Fink and Fordiac, workin' on some others. Keep the links a-comin'. [IMG] I feel like Plan 9's icon, lately... at least it'll be over in a week.

One more think- I've been trying to dig up some cool sound effects to work into the presentation, but comin' up short. Can anyone suggest a site or source for stuff like a socket wrench clicking away, burn out audio, hi-revs, etc. Thanks for all the help!

  12. I sent you a WAV audio file of the Freight Train twin engine dragster. It should be in your hotmail account if all went well.

this seems like a great idea HC. Always easy to do a project on stuff you have first hand knowledge of.
I remember when I was doing my trade I had to do a talk in front of the class regarding what jobs I could a apply my trade to,( I am a welder /fabricated, actually a Boilermaker is the correct title of my trade!). Well I gave a talk on applying my trade to hot rod construction. Gave the talk along with a presentation of photos and other related hot rod information. It was so easy to do because I knew what I was talking about. This was before computers were common place in the class room.

Whodaky- sounds interesting! In this case, low-tech/high tech meets high tech. [IMG] It's frustrating stuff, this class, but the subject matter's sure at home.
Slick- try again, maybe my Inbox was too full to accept it, I've been having storage problems.
