Curly, If all goes as planned, it will be done near Bay City Michigan. It's right on I75 about 90 miles north of Detroit.
I just found this post, count me in, I am a welder, or at least I play one at work. I am willing to lend a hand where its needed. If you come up with a supply list, I will help out on that end also. -Joe
This "Thrash" sounds great! I would love to attend and sand and drink beer! I'm not 100% sure yet. When I was at the Detroit Autorama, I had a talk with Denise about pinstriping Big Olds at BilletProof. Although nothing was cast in stone, she was mighty excited. I took this seriously and the prospect of a straight flattened copper color is what I feel she really wants. Maybe with some striping. So I don't know about scallops, yet. Ya know what I mean. Anyway this whole thing looks like a great oppurtunity to have fun and help out a Hamb'er. Hey Kritz, bitchin' scallops, man. Joel
i think that hanging out with all the "gay bitches" is reason enough to count me in...let alone getting to defile big olds. i can't wait. speaking of scallops, we're laying out the scallops on my shoebox tomorrow night and i'm planning a scallop TECH!!!!! i'm no pro, but it should be interesting viewing atleast. p.p.of chicago and safariknut, this could be a good opportunity to do some hamber co-op striping...whether it be on big olds or on little do-dads. we could have people bring items with them that they would like to see pinstriped, and for a nominal fee (which would help denise offset some of the cost of supplies needed for big olds)we could stripe them. just an idea....
Gee! Golly! If it ends up being here at my place and the famous HAMB pinstripers show up I'll try and get one (or all) of them to pinstripe my toilet. I've always wanted a pinstriped toilet with a Rat Fink on the lid. Hope the weather is good I've got to move a 30 yr collection of junk outside to make room for BIG OLDS and DEMOLITION TEAM. Nothing is too inconvenient for our HRLC. RIGHT!!!!! Frank
[ QUOTE ] fab, I don't think you need pinstripes on yer toilet .... it's already got brown racingstripes [/ QUOTE ] That was SO uncalled for Have we decided on a date yet? SOME people have to WORK weekends and therefore need to know in advance to request the date off
[ QUOTE ] I dunno guys, I've seen Rudys work... I'd try to keep him away from this one! [/ QUOTE ] Dude....IT's an Oldsmobile
I am free Apr3(saturday) and so is Denise...that makes two...anybody else think this would work for them??....I can do a weekday easier than a weekend, but I was thinking weekdays, for most people, are not as easy. Let's get some thoughts on both options.
Sorry Cherryblossom, I can't disconnect the muscle.. besides I don't have a trailer to haul it behind me even it WERE detachable! So when is this going down exactly?? April 3rd? So we're using Mike's garage right? And he's supplying all the beer and food and supplies, right? Just checkin' Tiny
Tenatively at Fab32's shop....but any other ideas can still be considered....all the details can still be discussed, but lets start to get some details locked in...first...the "Hamb Slamb Dunk" date would be most important.
Id like to be there, but cant commit to it. Ive got a full plate between work and my projects and I would hate to say Ill be there and not be able to follow through.
Denise, If you're going with the copper, I have a sheet of light bronze colored glass that would look great, I have patterns for all the side glass... BUT if you're going with Power windows I usually have to add 1 1/2 inches to the bottom and I would need a pattern of the rear window unless you have a stock olds frame. also need a shipping address and I doubt if my schedule would allow me to get it there in time for the thrash, it sound like you'll have enough thing happin' without worrying about glass problems
How about kandy root beer over metalflake w/ watson style scallops? Let me know what weekend baycity aint to far from me and a couple guys from the shop are talking about comming along also we get tired of relpacing neon fenders and bumpers all the time and to make it worse now we have a toyota in the shop hit in the rear(wouldnt get out of the way) let me know ill bring the flake and my guns
I just wanted to show some pics to display some painting and fabricating skills that flatheadpete and I both have. We will be more than happy to adorn "Big Olds" with some of our handy work. The first pic will show off some fabricating and body working expertise. "SuperVette" was a real crowd pleaser, before it met its demise.
I'll bring the CAD drawings for the zoomies. How many hammers (not HAMBers) are gonna be there? I'm gonna need at least 38 to perform work like what is seen on the Vette. I'm there!
Whew! Thanks to jdubbya & co., I can just show up and drink beer, eat cookies, drink beer and supervise. Thanks guys!
I know a guy who knows a guy who can "borrow" the 'jaws of life' if needed. Pete, why so modest? I know you did that vette with no more than 15 hammers. Fess up!
Well I just hired security for the day. Everyone must show ID to get into the shop and NO ONE from the Flint area will be allowed inside, or anywhere near Big Olds. The Flint boys will be assigned food prep, BBQing and serving duties, OUTSIDE Seriously though, the response here is alittle overwhelming. Alot of the ideas I've been thinking about regarding Big Olds are going to become a reality and I know I couldn't do it without help. My good buddies from the HAMB type of help. Roadstars going to make a list of materials that he thinks will be needed and we'll post that. He's also going to check his cost for some of the stuff. I'll take a few photos of a couple of things on Big Olds that need attention and we can kind of brainstorm beforehand. Fab32, I'd like to come up on a Sat and help you do whatever is neccessary to make room. Maybe I'll join you guys on Sat the 20th for breakfast and we can talk about things and make sure we're all on the same page with realistic goals for the day. I've got a huge list but I know there is only so many hours in a day. I'm touched by everyone's generousity. Thank You
Denise, If you can make it for breakfast on the 20th, we could meet in Birch Run to make it a shorter trip. I'm sure Donnie, Frank and I can make it and anybody else that's wants to join in is welcome. Maybe we could meet for breakfast on the 13th to plan the breakfast on the 20th.
