i've bought a few pairs of dickies pants and shorts from walmart for work (aircraft mechanic) and i've been wearing 'em for a couple of years now, and i can't beat 'em...they are much better than the company issue uniform pants...can't complain, even if they are from walmart...

You guys are both right, FUCK walmart, they are non-union and proudly oppose flying the American flag, at least the one by me in Michigan bragged about it. I would rather pay a little more somewhere else more American and pro Union.

I've been wearing Dickies for several years, they seem to be the only jeans that hold up fairly well. I remember having problems with them at first, I'd get a hole at the zipper, where the stitching curves up to the straight part, there's a little dash of stitching there and I'd get a hole right there. Likely because I have a fat ass, wearing 38's when I probably should be wearing 40's, but my physique aside, I haven't had that problem in a while. But I haven't been buying them at WalMart anymore either. This thread has sorta made me put 2 and 2 together, maybe that was the answer.

  8. What amazes me is that WORK CLOTHES are now a fashion statement. My friend came over to the garage yesterday with his 15 yr old, who was wearing some brand new, ripped up, dirty-looking jeans, probably cost $100. I would have given him my $10 jeans with AUTHENTIC holes, grease, and dirt for only half that!:D

I bought some jeans recently and I couldn't believe they look like crap now . . . they must have had some holes that now really make them look horrible. I hate to see brand new denim end up in the garage only pile . . . but I can't wear the holy boogers at my day job. *Sigh*

Not totally true, I came across some at Mervyns (sp?) and they were total garbage, they were thinner then bed sheets and some crappy plaid stuff, they made me all angry so I went to a uniform shop and bought some but ended up getting the bedsheet thin ones for Christmas anyways...

Wow! This is one hell of a thread! Anyone know a good place for boxer shorts and socks too? :D :D :D

  13. I spotted some Dickie's coveralls in WalMart a couple weeks back.

They were khaki colored and the material was thinner than the genuine olive drab Dickie's coveralls I have.

Struck me that the Wally World Dickie's wouldn't last long.

The Dickie's Ike jackets were the rage with the kids here last year.
    Got one for granddaughter.
    It's a nice jacket.

My junk has been hanging to the left for 39 years, I want to switch it up a bit and get 'em to hang to the right, will Dickies do this for me? or should I keep shopping. Thank you for all concerned

I just bought me a Dickies insulated work jacket at Wal-Mart for 25.00 and some change. Kohls had jackets that were nothing but pant material made into a jacket, for 46.00. WTF?

My Wal-Mart jacket may be cheap made, I don't know, but it keeps my butt warm while outside working on choochoo trains!

I'm strictly a Carhartt person. I love the double knee logging pants. But anyways I bought some dress shirts recently and was really pissed when when I didn't see the Union and Inspected by tags falling out of the pockets when I got home, I looked at the label and it said Made in fucking china!!!!! I know they are the real shit because I bought them at work and gear, I was so pissed I wrote them a 2 page letter.. Bastards...

There's a good book about Wal-Mart, the way it does business, and the effect it has had on the economy. It is titled "The Wal-Mart Effect". I can't remember the authors name.

All I know is that Dickies don't make my ass look as big as if I was wearing Levi's! KNUX!

I've had a couple pairs of Carharts, one with double knees and one without and still had problems, but I may have gotten them at Walmart. I do know my Dickies have come with one and two pockets on the right side. I wonder if that's a difference between the good and bad ones.

Right now, my biggest problem with jeans is the inside top corners of the pockets on the butt tearing out and ripping down along the inside seam of the pocket.

Does anybody remember when a dickie was this little abbreviated turtle neck you wore under your white shirt? this was about 1962 Junior High School, we were riding around on our Salisburys,Mustangs,Cushmans and were the coolest nerds around.....
