I had read somewhere that a rear seat from a Chrysler Minivan will fit into a 32 Ford roadster pretty well. Can somebody tell me if I need to use the center seat or the far rear seat from one of these vans? Also, is the width of a 32 Ford pickup cab the same as that of a 32 Ford Roadster? I am looking to start gathering pieces for an upcoming project that started life as a 32 Ford pickup. Thanks in advance, Kael
I believe it is the back set out of the van. You will need to narrow it a little to make it fit. My dad did it for his 32 and it turned out nice and is very comfortable.
The middle seat fits an A model without narrowing it. It will also fit a 32 truck cab, but may be a little too narrow?. Later, Mark
its the middle seat, or try the back seat out of a jeep wrangler (the traditional soft top jeep what ever name it is.) or try and score a crash cart seat out of an old ambulance like i did. its the seat that the emt flips down to sit on while he works on you on the gurney in the back of the ambulance. i have one for sale if you are interested, it's gray in color and @40 inches wide. let me know
I used the middle seat for my uncut Deuce P/U. It doesn't fold so I made hinges that bolt on the front edge where the seat risers were bolted. It tilts up for battery and storage access. Mine was free...I liked the price.
Middle seat . I just picked one up tuesday for my 32 roadster. Mine was from a 92 grand caravan. The back doesnt fold but it really doesnt need to. The brackets that hold it to the floor of the van unbolt and the arm reat comes off in seconds. Wiht some too, of course. They are about 40 to 41 inches wide . There was a nice article in street rodder this issue about using and reupholstering one. I asked the same question about 2 days before I got the new mag! You should be able to fing one for about 50 bucks. I found 3 in toledo about an hour from me at a bone yard for 40 to 50. The one i got was a little under an hour drive so i went for that one. I even found one on egay that i coulda got for 9.95 but it was an hour and 45 minute drive 1 way so i p***ed. Dave
Thanks for the wonderful input. Getting the seat is not a problem, I just need to know which one to use. Kael
i tried a caravan seat at first but that car was pretty well channeled and the caravan seat had me sitting too high, plus i was broke and couldn't afford to have reupholstered. the ambulance seat worked out good. got it for 10 bucks at the junkyard, i guess to them what could it have possibly been used for other than another ambulance.
