Which axles? Strange, Moser, Mark Williams...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curly, Dec 29, 2006.

  1. Getting ready to lay out some hard earned bonus money on a new set of axles for my truck. It has a narrowed 9" and a 31 spline Strange spool.

Any particular brand you guys suggest or stay away from? They all seem pretty close to $315 for bare axles and then add $60-100 for bearings, retainers and studs.

Hmmm any alliance vendors out there?

I have had good luck with Moser both in a heavy door car and in my FED. They have very good customer sevice even when I screwed stuff up they took care of me. I have not used the others but know many racers who swear by Strange. Dollar for dollar I would go with Moser.

And my stuff is all 8 & 3/4.

Any of those mentioned s/b fine. I prefer Strange Eng. since they have first cl*** service and have been around forever.

  7. I went to Duchman with specific dimensions, and after three tries they finally got it right.

Personally, I like Moser. Great customer service, excellent product, very fair warranty, and fast turn-around. I don't know about the others, but Moser's axle blanks are manuractured just down the road from their main facility, so it's all American made.
The other thing I like about them is the axles aren't tapered, so if you ever want to narrow them, you can, which is a lot cheaper than another set.

any of the above. I've sold them all... they stand behind their product and work well with customers if there are any problems.

I'm sure there is an Alliance shop (Gambino... Kikkin.... Hot Rod Ch***is and Cycle etc) that would deal with an axle supplier. Hopefully one of them will chime in.

I do know that profits on axles are slim... so there might not be much money off of what you are being quoted.

I'm a big fan of Moser for the turn around and service. Be sure to tell em that it's a Strange spool. Not all spools are the same. I sold lots of em in years past and wouldn't hesitate to use em on anything.

All of the brands mentioned are good. As far as quality I would take a MW axle over anyones, I've used all three and theirs are superb. For a street car or lower HP application Strange and Moser are fine.

  15. Looks like I can order a set of Moser axles from Summit and end up paying tax on them but with free shipping.

I see that Summit also sells CURRIE axles.

    Any thoughts on Currie axles
