This just proves you don't have to live in Cerro Gourdo to hack up a perfectly good car FLT-BLK and I partnered on this thing as we are both looking for parts for our 59's. Big thanks to my buddy Bulletr****1 for ALL the help. Here it as as it rolls onto "Rancho de Rash" after nearly drowning loading the thing up at Neppy's place.
A. FLT-BLK needed parts, I need parts. The total cost of the parts we need was WAY more than the cost of this car. B. Two of us had ever cut a car down that far before. C. We were bored. D. I had a surplus of sawzall blades. HAD being the operative word. FLT-BLK is hell on blades.
We actually have plans for most of the parts. The only things we haven't found a use for yet are the front doors, roof and cowl.
is the shop rented no **** on the walls .. or is your wife redecoratin r u makin a tailer outa the trunk.. paperdog
For all those asking what the plan for the car is and why they cut it up. If you go back to his original post and read this It explains why they cut it up. Hey rashy if you took more than 2 hours to do that much your still an amateur. We once did that to a nova in under an hour. The owner watched the whole thing. When we were done he said if he had not witnessed it he would have never believed it could be done. Also said that it was a good thing we were not criminals.
Looks like you scored some good parts off that thing. You going to be ready to have that Elco done by spring? Duckus****us
That brings back a lot of good memories!! I did the exact same thing... uhhh... several times! Travis
Hey Rashy, I may need some of that stuff for my 59, the further I get into this car , the more rust I"m finding.
A plasma cutter would have been more fun, and probably a lot easier for Tyler to set stuff on fire with.
as responsible old car guys it is your job to be sure that no part from that car gets tossed without an honest attemt at selling it or finding a person who could use it. I did that to a rusted out 53 chevy four door and got 3 grand out of it on ebay. I sold the trunk pan, floor pans, every little peice. I tossed the firewall, the roof and misc body parts that did not unbolt. I tried in vain to find someone to take the frame but no one wanted it. that was before I knew of the HAMB... I even sold the used wheel bearings I used a plasma cutter. much more fun and way faster. plus the added advantage of FIRE.
You would have cried to see me do that to a 73 RS Z28 a couple summers ago as well as a 68 Mustang GT fastback. I have no morals....oh yeah, a 69 Camaro too.
if you squint yer eyes and scroll through fast enough, it almost looks like you kept cutting until you ran out of rust... dv
Curiuos Rash, A very fun post! The '59 looked a little too good too part out , but your reasoning for doing so was a sound judgement. I did the same with three '41 Ford parts cars for parts, the three had no ******s or motors. I used the best parts for my '41 Ford convertible and sold off the extra parts which returned the purchase price of the convertible. "It takes a real man to chop a car" and a bigger one too part one out..... "Drive a cool short - make mine a custom" Cruiser 49
I didn't know you could remove the windshield with a Sawzall. The things you learn on the HAMB. The remains look a turkey the day after Thanksgiving. Did you keep the dash?
