So Last night, I was getting ready to go out (Happy new year everyone!) and I decided to watch a bit of Barret Jackson on Speedvision. The announcer was armbling on about this car and that...Then the unthinkable happened. some random Boyd-o-matic thing rolled in and Announcer A said "And here we have a very nice Hot Rod." announcer B-"That's not a hot rod, That's a custom Street Rod." announcer A-"So what is a hot rod then?" the most definitive answer for what a hot rod that I have heard was given. announcer B. "A Hot Rod is Pre War American Iron, Stripped down for Maximum performance. Less is more, function over style. and THAT ain't it." Here, all this time, I thought these guys had no idea. he went on to give very reasonable descriptions of Kustoms, Hot Rods, Lows, street rods, muscle cars and on and on... I thought this was worth sharing. Announcer B- I think it was Steve Magnante from Hot Rod magazine.
I saw that too. I didnt go out! There wasnt much on so i figured the rerun was good enuff. Its on today too and other than i needed a drink ive been watching it in the garage while working. Dave
i watched a little too, before we went to joses (locall bar)..i was dissapointed in what the edsel wagon brought . he probly had more in it ...and the 20 something woody only bringing around 20grand ...i may be wrong but wouldnt it take more to build it?...seemed muscle cars were bringing in the cash (real or fake) not to metion the 2005-6 excursion...that someone put a bunch of 24 karrot gold emblems on ...not my kind of cars..
My point wasn't the car pricing, for sure...I watch it 'cause there are always some really nice cars there (and some real junk,too...) and seeing some rare shit always gets the gears turning. I can't say I love the program, but at the time, it was better than "Secrets of the ka-ka sisterhood", therefore, I defered to one of the 3 channels I actually know the numbers for.
