    hey all-
my turn signals have me wanting to pull my hair out. Here's what I got, any help is greatly appreciated.

    EZ wiring harness
    GM non tilt column
    LED taillights
    no front signals yet

I can get them to do weird things-The turn signals don't even turn on. The brake lights work fine, but if the brakes are on and you flip the turn signal then that side shuts off. The hazzard turns both sides (no flash) but not bright (like the brake lights). If the hazzard is on and I flip the turn then the lights flash off once then remain on. The taillights work as they should. I don't have power at the front turn wires either, no matter what is on.

Is the turn signal switch bad? I have power to the brown and horn wire at the column to harness connection, and that flashes the test light with the flasher when I test it. Which ones should have 12 volts? I am very frustrated with these stupid things and am close to trying hand signals. Sorry if any of this is confusing, let me know and I'll try to reword it.

    Thanks in Advance!
    Devin

Is the flasher you are using specifically for LEDs.

I went thru a similar situation when wiring my car using a Ron Francis Kit. The LED Lights draw so little current that they do not make the connection or make the normal flasher work. I also had a similar problem with the front lights. I ended up wiring in Relays for each of the 4 light circuits. This fixed the problem. The relays should last for a long time as the amperage being draw at switching is almost nothing.

  5. you mite need separate bulbs for the tail and turn sounds as tho the wiring/power is reversing itself when the signal is on
try a dual element bulb in mock up and then follow suit

the purple wire to the turn signal switch should have 12v with the key on, it's the output from the turn signal flasher can. There need to be two flasher cans, one for hazzard (brown wire), the other for turn signals (purple wire). that's how the GM switches work

Make sure the tail light housing is grounded too.

you need to either wire in a resistor into the turn signals or splice another hidden bulb inline.

Having too much resistance would explain the LEDs not flashing, but it would not explain the fact that he doesn't get power to the LEDs.

thanks guys, i think ill start tonight finding why i don't have power at the purple wire- i dont think the taillight housing itself needs to be grounded the led case or whatever it is has a ground wire on it i grounded to the frame.

now i feel dumb, i was poking around in the fuse block with my test light where the flasher is and found a terminal i didn't know was there, the flasher only has two terminals, and the block has three, turned the flaher 90 degrees and voila- my signals now work!!! Thanks EZ wiring

Flashers can come with two or three treminals, even the electronic ones. Makes a guy feel good to trace out and find out them tuff ones....H
