While visiting my wife's dad's side of the family in Southern MO this weekend for New Year's, I noticed a catalog on an end table - "American Science and Surplus". I love these guys! I've been looking on their site at their awesome stuff for years, but never signed up for their catalog. As I flipped through it I found this: "Left, Right These were meant to drive a car's power windows, hence the left hand and right hand versions, and they're powerful little ******s. The new 12VDC gear motors draw 1.5A and spin approx 160 rpm with no load, stall at 13A+. Low-end voltage is 6 VDC. Units measure 7-3/8" x 3-5/8" x 2-7/8" OA with 1-1/4" long x 11/32" dia shafts with a hex bore in the end. 16" of dual power leads end in a molex breakout. Left and right motors are mirror images of each other, and they're both reversible. 36221 LEFT HAND MOTOR $17.50/EACH 36222 RIGHT HAND MOTOR $17.50/EACH" Anyone in-the-know will recognize these as new, OEM power window motors for '60s vehicles (I have 'em in my '60 Cadillac, that's how I recognized 'em). I also saw this: "Big Blower Pick one of two. CJ calls these new 12VDC squirrel cage blowers "insanely gusty," if you're looking to move some serious air. The 12-volt 8-amp spins approx 2000 rpm. The cage is 6-1/4" dia x 2-3/4" and the motor is mounted on a 6-5/8" dia plate with 1/4" mounting holes and foam tape on the business end. The motor housing measures 3" dia x 2-7/8". Normally CCW, but reversible. The12-volt, 6.5-amp fan spins approx 2500 rpm. The cage is 5-5/8" dia x 3-5/8" and is mounted on a 6-5/8" dia plate with 3/16" dia mounting holes. The motor housing is 3-1/8" dia x 2-3/8". The hot lead goes to a single terminal, so you'll need to wire a jumper to the unpainted steel under the cage for a ground. 36842 8 AMP BLOWER $12.50/EACH 36843 6.5 AMP BLOWER $12.50/EACH" Looks like these are GM-style blowers, like one I paid a huge sum for recently for my S-10 (well, not really - I took it back and got a nice used one on the cheap)! I thought this would be a nice source for parts that folks might not know about and I'd p*** it on. Besides, I know you guys - You'll dig their catalog. They have all sorts of stuff that takes on all sorts of new uses through a hot rodder's eyes. ~Jason
That's great Abomination, but you never tolds us how to get a Catalog. I agree about the prices of the two parts you showed, but now I want to see more, see what they may have that I can use in my '55 Belvedere Kustom. Thanks JERRY
Yep - just click the link. Check out their stuff, it's awesome. There should be a "Send me a printed catalog" link on the left somewhere - that's the one you want. Make sure you UNcheck the boxes that say "Oh yes, send me SPAM" (well, something like that anyway ) to avoid all sorts of junk email. ~Jason
I agree - those guys kick ***! Their magnets are pretty cool too, but not as cool as http://www.unitednuclear.com/ - here's their magnet section: http://www.unitednuclear.com/magnets.htm The electromagnet they have would be great on an engine crane... well, as long as there was constant power going to it. I'd hate to be under the motor when a wire lost contact! ~Jason
300+ views on this thread. Man, these guys will wonder where all the traffic is coming to their site from, as these pictures were linked and not attachments. ~Jason
