I'm getting really frusterated trying to find an insurance company that will cover my hot rod. The problem with most (i.e. progressive, hagerty, etc) is that they wont insure it if it has a rollcage, which mine does. I'm afraid the car is too radical that most companies wont want to even touch it, plus i'm only 24 (i'll be 25 when it needs to be insured) plus i have one, maybe two speeding tickets on my record from a few years ago.. Can anybody help? I know theres gotta be people on here with similar situations, who do you insure your cars through???
Have you tried American Hobbyist...its got a link right here on the HAMB, and they're a sponsor I think. There were a few posts about them. Good **** from what I heard.
if they can't help call my buddy larry rodgers at heritage ins. in tyler tx. he insures all of my cars through Grundy his # is 903-534-1177 tell him brant from kikin street rods sent you Brant
I was just shopping for insurance today also. I have AAA insurance and I needed a quote to add my 27 Nash to the policy. They told me they had a "new" program for cl***ic cars, they seemed really cheap. Call them at 877-222 7868. They asked me a whole lot of questions, like "is the frame modified" "original motor" "how many miles are you driving it, a year" etc. I gave them an honest answer (everything modified, drive it 15'000 miles a year) and they still quoted me less than I expected. One thing "custom paint" seems to be a red flag for them. Good luck Grundy I hear is good too.
Grundy would insure all my cars except my '56 g***er with the "supercharged motor". I went with Parish Hea**** cl***ic car insurance (800-274-1804) instead, easy people to work with. Your age maybe the only issue, give em a try.
Grundy is good, but very expensive... Hagerty is expensive and not that great. I use American Hobbyist - here's why: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?page_id=514
Ryan, maybe age or state has something to do with it but I have my cpe insured through Grundy for $40,000 and the premium is less than $300 a year
only problem with American Hobbyist is :No more than one moving violation (or at-fault accident) per person in the household within the past three years. So i'm out with them
Who do you have your regular insurance through? Have you asked them about it? I have State Farm and have always gotten stated value coverage fairly inexpensive through my local agent without any stipulations beyond what my policy already had as far as drivers and moving violations. Just a thought, I've always had all my cars and my life policy through State Farm.
I had the cpe with State Farm for 8 yrs. Had $25,000 stated value and last premuim was a total of $2 more for 6 months driving and 6 months storage than I pay with Grundy for $40,000 agreed value 12 months driving
Anyone under 25 have any luck getting antique specialy insurance? I cant get seem to get anyone to even concider insuring me. It ****s. I pay a lot for liability only insurance on a car thats I have more invested in than my daily driver. It ****s bad...
I just insured my deuce through Grundy 2 weeks ago... I'm 31, got 30k coverage for 198.00 for 12 months. If any company has a cheaper rate than that I sure couldn't find it. Hagerty was double that. State Farm is who I have my regular insurance through, and they didn't even want to mess with a fenderless hotrod, and actually suggested i go with a specialty insurance co. Grundy was the best deal I could find anywhere, and very easy people to deal with... did 99% of it online, they make you print out and mail the actual signed forms to them with a check, had insurance cards within 10 days.
