Or should I say WHERE is the difference? My quarter patches are 49-50 rear, and 49-52 front. Will a 49-50 skirt be the ticket?I need to know this before I start welding. Thanks in advance!
The 49/50 skirts are a little smaller than the 51/52 skirts. I don't understand what you mean by front or rear. do you mean that the patch for the front part of the wheel well opening is from one year and the patch from the rear is from a different year. If so that should not be a problem to just fit them to whatever year skirt you are going to use and weld them in accordingly. Am I understanding this correctly. I have spare skirts (singles) that I can send you to use if you need them. BB BTW I think a skirt will make your *** look fat.
get the skirts before you weld! chances are, on a kustom you're gonna be modifying the skirts too, you'll probably want to extend them lower for nicer flow.
Yep...what all those guys said. There are pics of both '49-50 and '51-52 skirts in this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61146&highlight=skirts Bryan
Thanks to all!I went to the local salvage yard and got 2 49-50's.They had no idea they tapered and are 1 sided. They've been selling 2 lefts and 2 rights as pairs.I got the last left. Now I'm going to clamp things up.
49-50 skirts are seperate for left right 51-52 can be used on either side, the 49-50 has slight taper at back, very mnor but enought so skirts do not fit right, yes 49-50 skirts will be the chioce if using rear 49 1/4 panel patch
