I used to feel the same way, but I have to give her credit on later episodes, where she cleans out the cars and actually does some stuff on 'em now.

Courtney used to chip in and pull her weight all the time (but of course, she does a lot of her own work, and has since she was very young). Looks like they're easing AJ into it, too.

She knew, everything was so contrived, husband needs to go back to his dog cushion in the corner of the room and STFU.

Car was gorgeous, regrettably will probably go back to being a storage shed again. It would be better if it got sold to someone who would really appreciate it.

I don't think they should've sold 'em either, but then again I agree, that's their business.

I agree that a lot of these marks are in on it. You can tell by their Shatneresque' reactions.

    Same here.

I do all my "cherity" work on the short bus, too. :)

While I like to watch the show and believe Foose would be great to meet and does outstanding work.
I remember one line from an early show.
It was the one that they did the reveal at the Peterson Exhibit I believe.
The mark said something like that he missed the best part, working on his vehicle with the crew.
I'm in the midwest and would never have to worry about them doing one of my vehicles but it would be nice.
I have my own vision of what I want the end result to be and enjoy working on it.
Having someone else do this would be difficult.

Has anyone seen the one time issue of the "Overhaulin" magazine.
It had many interesting stories on some of the cars that had been done on the show.
I believe that I read in there that the parts that were not used from the start of the vehicle were returned to the owner if they wanted them.

You know, I was upset by this episode, but you hit the head the nail on the head there with my biggest gripe - it will probably go back to being a storage shed, and her chest freezer will probably kiss all that new chrome off of her bumper (she said she'd hit it several times before, hard enough to cause big dents).

She did seem appreciative, but that won't stop it from that outcome.

Don't worry - I get the feeling it'll be back on the market before too long. Those folks were getting on in years, and I'm 100% positive it'll outlast them.

I noticed your link to Vern's new site. He makes some bad*** 4" risers for 3-bolt carbs, and a bunch of other stuff, don't he?

Lately, I've seen them go to other places. One guy's Mopar was "stolen" from Wichita and trucked to CA. Chris was flown to KS for a few pranks, then the mark was flown in to CA for the reveal.

Don't get me wrong, I love Chip's stuff, and I love the show. It's just the this episode in particular got my goat and I took the opportunity to share. I've got no ill will towards anybody there... just the mark and her gimp from this episode.

Maybe it's because I have a Cadillac, I don't know. But damn, it really hurt my feelings that it had the potential to become a storage shed again.

Sorry if I pissed anybody off here (especially folks having anything to do with the show) - it's just that every time this episode is on I never come away happy for the people on it. http://www.overhaulin.com/theshow.asp?target=62

And so far, the episode "That 70s Van" with the van with the airbrushed dragon on it has yet to be topped. I mean, when that poor old guy saw what they had done with his POS van at the end he started bawlin'!

  12. well you cant really judge much from a tv show. the caddy was storage because the lady didnt think it was safe. she isnt a mechanic, just someone who loves old cars & cadillacs. she was a mess when her car was gone, like i said the husband didnt seem to know much about cars or care much about them, but i truely believe this car means alot to her. i worked on that episode, and i even got a thank you letter from her a couple of weeks later. i think people deserve things for one reason or another, weather its money, cars, or anything else, you seem to get out of life what you put into it. she seemed like a good person to me, & was more grateful than anyone i've ever worked on cars for. heres some of the pics i have from the show.

So the next time it comes on you'll watch it because you think you'll feel different?

Maybe you should write the makers of the show, and tell them how you feel.
Or maybe there is a Disco/TLC Forum somewhere...
