Who's going to Starbird's show in Wichita Jan 19-21?

Is anyone going to the 50th annual Starbird show in Wichita, KS in a few weeks? I'll be there. It is supposed to have the largest collection of bubble top cars ever. I'll be sure to take a ton of photos for you slobs living too close to water.

We are talking about it. If the weather's nice then we'll cruise down, but if it's lousy I guess I wait for pictures.

 

I was going to go but I think I am going to stay home and work on my bubbletop instead.

I know Dave Shuten will be there with his new one.

Not a big fan of Starbird himself but since I live in Wichita, probably going

 

Everytime I've been, it's been incredibly boring....but this year, I'm making it fun. There are too many stock muscle cars, not enough customs (my opinion is biased). But I heard this year will be different, being the 50th anniversary and all.

 

Probably can't hang for long (overtime), but my Studebaker club is displaying 4 cars - we usually score some hardware.

 

Yes. The roads around Wichita are fine- we only got a few inches of snow this far east. Western Kansas is still digging out, but the interstates are open.

 

Its going to be kool not only with the Bubble tops, But a bunch of the Wichta Hoodlums are putting togher a "traditional " hot rod disply , a lot of old roadsters , customs and stuff. So far its up to like15 cars. real kool stuff!

That would be a nice change from all the damn tuner cars. Might make it worth it now.

 

So what does admission to this show cost anyway? Can I get press pass if I have a camera?

 

Page 3 in just a couple hours? bttt.

 

I think I saw on the Starbirds site it was $18 to get in.

 

Without a car? No wonder I don't go to indoor car shows very often!

Any particular time, or just come and go?

I was going to have this cool "ClassicDragsters.com" t-shirt made so I would be easy to spot, but then we got socked in with ice and still can't get around town very well. So I may just wear a HAMB drags shirt, or maybe someone can loan me a Boyd shirt. I'm hoping by Friday I can get the two inches of ice off the truck and get on the road.

 

I'm planning on sneaking out there Sat. evening probably. I work right across the street, so it will be tough Friday, I'll want to sneak away and check it out. Kinda looking forward to the bubble tops, althoug I'm not a huge fan it should be neat to see them.

 

$15 to get in, unless you can disguise yourself as a 14yr old, then it's only something like $10

 

I don't know when I'll be there....Friday, Saturday and/or maybe Sunday.
