Done Deal Thanks I am having trouble finding a alternator bracket that will work with a front oil fill tube short pump for a SBC any ideas ?? Lower drives side will not work either..
I'm running a alternator bracket setup off of a '72 chevy 350 engine. The base bracket bolts directly to the front of the head, and the arm for the top mounts to the top bolt on the water pump(drivers side). This should clear the oil fill tube on the intake, the alternator/generator will sit on the side of the valve cover. David
Thanks I figured it out I flipped my alternator Case 90o to clear the steering box and used my lower alternator bracket..
alan groves #200R should work if the oil fill tube is pointed more to the drivers side...if it's ponting to the p***enger side , take a look at 200L
I have the same engine... do you have a picture of what you discribed? I understand what you are saying, but I'm more of a visual person. I don't want to screw it up...
I ve been using one that i got from speedway. it bolts to a water pump bolt and the front intake bolt on the p***enger side.it sets the alt. straight up pretty much over the p***. valve cover.plenty of room for oil fill tube.i want to say that its the same bracket gm used for air pumps on late 60s to early 70s smog motors . oh, i got a cast iron one on one car and a stainless one on the other car.they used to sell them either way.sorry i cant post a picture . mike
im sorry ragtop i see you already figured it out. anyway if anyone else was interested, the speedway pn is 916-67906 for the plain bracket and the asking price was 44.95 which seemed reasonable to me.anyways good luck . mike
