What is the difference between these two besides being sanctioned by two different organizations and spread approx. one month apart from one another? p.s. looking for a room for Speedweek Aug 9-12
For "real" race cars/bikes the rules are about the same. However, the USFRA has 130mph and 150mph cl***es for, essentially, street cars/bikes. The also race go-karts and barstools (?) A more laid back atmosphere at WOS. http://www.saltflats.com/
If all you want to do is hang out and watch lots of cars then Speed Week may be the deal ya want. Its a much busier week than the world of speed. My company (Linder Fuel Injection www.lindertech.com) is a sponsor of the USFRA World of Speed and will do so again for 2007. As far as running a vehicle on the salt we prefer the USFRA World of Speed as well , mainly because it isnt as busy. Ex: I drove our truck 5 times and my partner drove twice in two days before we got rained out this year. www.gasolinealleyshops.org
You may want to call Bonneville Motel,1-435-665-2500 and reserve a room. I have been trying to get a room, called 5 motels and there already booked for Speed Week. Bonneville Motel had rooms yet. You can also go to http://www.saltflats.com/wendover%20info.html and see if there is some other place you may want to stay, casino? Peppermill, Red Garter, etc. Good Luck Scott
Good luck getting a room at speedweek. And also, save your coin if you plan on staying in a room. Jen and I are thinking of just a couple of days at Bonneville this year then driving to Tahoe for the 5 year wedding anniversary. Chris Nelson Kansas
The SCTA World Finals in Oct. is also a lot less busy and generally has very nice weather. I was lucky enough to be there in 04 when the Burkland liner ran 417 mph.
Yea, and the funny thing is.....I told Jen that maybe we could skip speedweek this year and go to Tahoe and she said "No way", but maybe we could just p*** thru for a couple of days. Chris
Bonneville Motel-- Hey, you might want to re-think about making a reservation here, I just found a couple reviews on the motel, 1 out of 5 rating, I may be canceling my room after futher research. Maybe someone out there can give both of us some good insight on where to stay. Econo Lodge, State Line, Super 8, Heritage, and motel 6 are booked. Thanks, Scott
