I have seen a picture of 20" steel wheels supposedly off a Chrysler or an International. I am wondering if anyone makes 20" steel wheels (6-7" wide) or if they exist in some form from some manufacturer back in the day.
Posie's may know. Their cross country hot rod trip stopped in at Kingman, Arizona on their way home. One of the cars in the group - a Bonneville style coupe - ran 20" rear wheels. Strikes me that obtaining a 20" tire could be the tough part.
a buddy of mine ha a set of new dodge truck 20" (spare) steel rims narrowed by stockton wheel (i think) the fille in the holes and had them powdercoated silver big honkin" 20" whitewall on the rear of a 30 sedan it is very cool>
I have a set of wheels from an early Olds that are 20 in. and are 6 lugs. They're rough, but I'm gonna use them as garage art.
1937 Dodge MC 1/2 ton's had them as an option. I read this article at the local book store the other night. I think they look great myself. If your looking for plain steel wheels, all new Dodge 1/2 ton's with 20's come with 20" solid steel spare's. http://vintagetruckmagazine.com/pdfs/feat_01.pdf http://vintagetruckmagazine.com/ci_features.shtml
Volkswagen Toureag comes with a 20 inch steel wheel as a spare if you decide to go the new car route. 5x100 I think is the lug pattern. The Porsche Cayenne may as well.
Saw a pair at a swap meet up here a few years back - I'll check to see if they're back again this year (early May) Steve
I have a set that came off a President station wagon. From what I have read they are some type of high clearance aftermarket wheel. They are not that wide though, mabeye 3 inches. They have triangular cutouts along the outside rim. I will try and get a photo tomarrow. edit: They are five lug. Small ford pattern I believe. 5 on 4 1/2.
I got a set of 5 Internationals 20"s. I mod'ed them to take a Ford cap and they look sick. The tires are an issue for sure. My fronts are almost 32"s tall, and my rears are almost 35"s tall. Sorry no pics until I'm further down the build road.
International Truck 33-39 I believe. They were option wheels. Typically farmers got them so they wouldn't get stuck "high centered" as often.
I have seen old adverti*****ts for both Ford and Dodge 20" as an option on new vehicles in the 30's/40's. Will see if I can locate them again.
Divco 18" wheels! Oh well, if you can stand teh 2 inches difference I think the 300C spare tire is 18" and 7-8 inches wide 5 lugs and RWD offset. Can anyone confirm or am I all wet?
I've got a pair of the 20" Plymouth high service wheels. Some have the holes some don't. I actually thing they're too big. I would prefer them to be 18". The 20" tires are just too tall. I may try to get a set of 18" hoops put on these. That is if I can find a pair to match. Clark
