    Hi all,

I did some searching, but every car i found on here is different.
I have a guy who wants to sell me this 27 roadster. the info I know is:

    -27 boxed frame
-fiberglass body with rumble seat (just ok condition. Needs work and paint)
    -350/350
    -Interior is decent
-Suppose to run good, I have not driven it yet.

Can you guys let me know what its worth, I need to get back to him asap?

    I appreciate the help,
    Danny

I just sold a 27, unassembled, same 350/350 combo, fiberglass body for $4200 delivered. Looking at those 2 pics I wouldnt say over $7000 or so in my own opinion, but then again you dont know how much he has into it. You can find the pics of the one I sold in the classified section though. Good luck

    Thanks Tony,

Does the difference in body style have any effect?

I also replaced the pictures with clearer ones

$7,500......if you buy it make it more traditional and it will be worth maybe $10,000........2 cents

first you'll have to do something with that front spring. does it have any clearance?

  7. I aggree, $7000 as it is, just as a driver rod. More done traditionally but it looks like it would take alot to do so...unless you already have a batch of old parts just waiting in your garage ;)

I dont know too much about these cars, although Ive always wanted one, I like the custom rods much more than traditional. All of my experience has been with 50's cars, so I do not have any parts, nor was I interested in doing much work to this one. I thought I would drive it for a bit and then sell it, but if conensus is around $7,000, I think the seller may be way off.

It looks similair to this one:

that turds been sittin on Craigslist for a long time, he wants too much for it, would take lots to make it cool. what are you looking for exactly, whats a custom rod in your opinion, I think thats what most people mean on this board when they say traditional. that means 40's-50's-60's style usually. if you can give people a general idea of what you want, you just may find it here on the HAMB. or you could have someone build you a car, plenty of talent here as well, good luck

Whats he asking for it anyways?

I dont think the body mods make much difference from the 27 I sold. Fiberglass aint worth shit for $$$ eitherway IMHO, but you sure can make them fast. And there was a lot more cool shit on the 27 I sold too.

Not knowing any more than what you posted, I think even $7k is being generous. The front suspension and steering should just be unbolted and rolled to the curb. Considering what the front is, I doubt the rear is much better. Seen alot of these that throw an old S10 rearend in it and call it custom. My 23 had those headlights when I got it too. Best thing about them is they'll pull $125 on Ebay. If it's a project for you, offer him MAYBE $5k. Sounds like he's real proud of it, and wants way more. Might be for the best.

  13. What Dan said. That car has no style. I wouldnt give 2k for it. Too many things that need to be made right. Guy must have had a Speedway catalog in every room..........

  14. What's a "custom rod"? In case you had'nt noticed this is a traditional rod and custom board. To my thinking, an Ed Roth car would be my interpretation of "custom rod". Or the Lunar Lander!

The Lunar lander is more like a dream car for me, way outta my league. Most the cars I like are from right here on the Hamb (attached pics).

I know the guy did not build the car, he traded something for it.

Dan, do you recall how much he was asking on Craigslist?

  16. It will bring about 5 grand, not cause its worth that -but cause there is an ass for every seat...Some think they can't build a car so they will buy what the wallet will bear,Plus a fellow can't really build hardly anything for the 5G :D anyhow.....

seem to remember he was asking around 12 G's for it......! the cars you like from the HAMB are all good examples of traditional (maybe with a twist) hotrods, I would try to find someone who can help build one for you, i know some local guys that do great work, if you want you can PM me and I'd be happy to point you in the right direction

  18. Looks like a TTT . Or.......Totally Tastless T.

If it drives as bad as it looks and run away from it as fast as I can. I'd be afraid to even make an offer. What if he says yes .

LOL, yeah so if you're desperate for a start and just need a car, start low and stay low!
You can get a lot more car for the buck, especially if you can go as high as 12k like he's asking. I started with a 2k budget years back. Gotta start somewhere. Take Dan's advice though, thats a hell of a nice gesture.:)

    Thanks alot Dan,
Im not sure that im ready to have something built for me, especially since I enjoy the work myself and am on a student budget. I was interested in getting this car at deal and selling it later, but the difference in what he is asking and what it appears to be worth is very large. I guess I'll stick to finishing up my 56 and the looking for a project more in line with the style I actually want.

As soon as this offer came, I knew you guys would have the answers for me. I appreciate all the advice
