Ya, thats probably a faux Patina ya got there too!!! Look'n pretty "Rockabilly Rat rod" yer self?

  2. Just jokin' with the demo derby tire paint.Just bein' funny. JOKE.Get it?Like I said previously,I also painted my rear tires to hide the whitewalls. WTF??? BTW now YOU have 698.Lighten up Dave.

  3. I ground my whites with a angle grinder. They looked good for a several months until I went through a drive thru, rubbed a curb and wiped black **** all over the driver's side tires. I tried scrubbing the **** off to no avail. Then I tried Westley's Bleach White. They immediately turned yellow and no amount of reapplications made any difference. Rather than replace the tires with only 5k miles on them I decided to try the Krylon method. I scrubbed the tires with a scotch brite pad, masked them off and painted them with Krylon Fushion gloss white. I recommend removal from the car for a more even application. The tires look great and I was able to extend the white all the way to the wheel where grinding had left about 1/2" of black. Its been 4 months so far and no cracking, bubbling or yellowing. You can't tell the difference from real whites from 2 feet away. Perhaps because the paint is mostly applied over white. If I had a camera with me I'd prove it.

Hey Guys I worked for Chevrolet for eight years. The used car lot had a guy come in who would stripe cars install hub caps and paint white walls on. For sevral dealers in the area. It is a common practice in the dealership world. I never saw the guy rattle can them. He had a machine that would spin the tire and he had plastic bottles of paint that had a roller tip on the end. It was a pretty slick set-up. I usually never saw the cars come back since they werent all chevys so I dont know how it held up. It did really spruce up some plain janers on the lot and did seem to help sales. When I raced stock cars we always painted our W.W.s black looked good from the stands (low buck had to run em with the best tread and rollout we gould get)

Hell, hate to add to the rash of *****in' and moanin' but I really thought this site was more of a place for answers and car talk rather than talkin trash to people just enjoying their hobby. I have already had a good share of downtalk from a few folks after asking some, probably basic but , need to know for me questions. Whats with some high on the hog people? Aren't we all here for the same reason? I think some need to quit acting like their Boyd ****ing**** and ****in Relax.

****, this has been going on long enough!!! It's a post about a ****in cheap way out of something, thats all!!
DeSoto you seem to think that everyone has alot of money!!Everyone is differant , i myself don't have extra money to even save up for "used" WWW.
If you have extra, sent it to me & i'll buy WWW with it.Everyones car is there OWN & they can do what they want, if you look back a few posts i admit that it didn't work out good & that i ground in WWW!!( Is that acceptable to you?)
its obvious that everyone has a differant idea on this board & thats what makes it great, this is all well & good, so why don't we just drop it & post something good like the Saddam Hanging!!! Now thats enterainment!!( De Soto, your not a moslem fundamentalist how'll be offended by that are you?)

Dag DeSoto...point or not you gotta realize your **** looks straight outta the pages of Ol Skool. So you kinda set yourself up. I don't see any timeslips for how hot that Hemi is, we just see pics, and it looks rat-rod-o-riffic. Not trying to stir ****, just step back and look at the car for a second without the bias of having tons of hours/dollars/sweat/tears into it. Then look at some other members cars, then CK Deluxe, Ol Skool Rodz, and Rod and Custom. It really jives with only 2 of those publications...the two former, and the ones you were bashing. Thats cool, you dont like painted tires, I dont like mismatched tires. Im not going to tell you that, its none of my business. This could be a very useful thread for alot of us, just chill. Nobody cares, besides everything you posted here is negative. Thats really not helping anyone.

I ground mine down, and its a real pain to get a set that doesnt look pie edged. I used an angle grinder (air) and some Green Corps discs. Then some sanding afterward, only a few sets I have done really kicked ***. My Merc had some homemade, and I keep my eyes on ebay to search out any more of that specific brand to keep in the ba*****t.

I really wanna try that Swedish paint. I guess to go online and sell a product dedicated to it it must be somewhat worthy. I have seen alot of ppl use it and so far the reviews are rave. Im not sure what the mileage is on these cars/bikes (and 1 scooter lol) but Id guess it would hold up better than Krylon? I want to go search later, I think Brewsir and Squablow painted thier tires with Fusion. I havent followed it, but have there been any updates on how they hold up? I know I have 1 car with wide whites (nice ground set) 1 car thats going to get Cokers, but 2 others that I really dont care to spend the money on. Hell, if I can get the look, or close to, for a fraction of the price? Awesome. Wouldnt do it on a super nice car, but to p*** on an occasional driver? Sure thing. If I were to buy Coker radials for all of them, including a spare, I would be almost $4k into tires. Whoah.

DE SOTO is the real deal. His car is one tough peice of iron. I had the pleasure of watching it roll into the Primer Nats last year. Everyone stopped and watched the thing...Its a great car. Rick is the real deal as well...he aint trying to be something, he is who he is..just a bit gruff. I wrote a post on the scene and was going to attach it...but I couldnt find it.

ITs funny this thing keeps going. It **** me in again.

Apparently, I Am Trying To Get Accross Somthing That I Will Never Succeed In Explaining.

Appears That We All Want To Do **** As Cheap As ****in Possible, As I Do Also..... But There Is A Fine Line To Saving A Dollar And Just Lookin Cheap.

My ****in Car Is ****ty Paint & Rusty Cus I Have Save The $$$ From Paint & Body Work To Build The Hemi.... That Has Had To Be Done Twice Since A Mechanical Falure Ate The ****er Up.

If You Guys Cant Tell The Diff From A **** Box From Ol Stool Rodz .... And What I Have Had Built Here .... Is Because You Have Never Seen My Car In Person.

No, Its Not The Best ...... But It Aint A ****in Rat Rod.

Ill Just Bow Out Now Cus Its Not Worth Trying To Explain To A Bunch Of Guys That Dont Care If Its The Right Thing To Do ..... Just If Its The Cheapest Way To Do It.

Further More, I Dont Know Where Some Of You Guys Come Up With The Money Thing......... I Have No Money, **** I Dont Think I Made 35 Grand This Year........ But Whatever, Do As You Like ... I Cant Change That And Seems As Though Nobody Wants Advice.

Yeah, I Came Off A Lil On The Rough Side.. Well, Maybe Alot.. But *******...... Painted Tires ?? Even The Originator Of The Post Now Know What I Was Gettin At In The Begining.

As For The Hanging .... They Havent Hung Enough

As For My Caps Being On .... I Know It Piss's Off The Computer Jerks So I Leave It On ........ :d

I tried it out on the rear tire of my panhead as a test and for the reason that they don't make a 159 series wide white bike tire. I hav e bunch of miles with gravel grease and grime and it still looks pretty good. Theres a few cracks but the chain slime comes off a hell of a lot easier.:D

Opinions are like ***HOLES only some are BIGGER than others!

This is your car, your art form, and I appreciate your efforts to do more with less. I personally like it.

The people who don't should just p*** over it, not slam it or you. Look how much bandwidth we just wasted.

Did ya know that the ability of a person to relate to others (i.e. putting themselves in other people shoes) relates directly to their over all intelligence? It's true...
