here are the newest pics of the chop. there are some more things to do to the body yet but i wanted to show the finished product for the top. all that is left for the top is the inside trim pieces. enjoy.
i'm not usualy a big proponent of sectioning but i'd say a real mild one (maybe 2") would realy be the cats ass on it with that chop... would love to see it photshopped that way.
i'm not a huge fan of the look either. but if someone wants to give it the photoshop treatment lets see what it would look like. but keep it mild like a 2".
Hey, I don't think 2'' outa the side of a shoe would be worth the work! 31/2- 4, yeah. In a panel with so little shape, 2" would be lost. Swankey Devils C.C.
i'm not so sure i agree with you. i'd definatley do some photoshops or cut up some pics to see the different amounts before i cut the car but i think a little out of that slab sided body would be just enough to bring it into proportion with the chopped top. i would'nt want it to look sectioned just look more in proportion with the top and less slab sided. it looks real good now but i think that little bit would make a big difference without anybody even noticing what was done... you could possibly be right though and it would need a little more than 2" but i doubt it would be as much as 4". thats why i'd do the pic thing first though, never know for sure till ya see it. not that it matters. Sean has'nt got the balls to cut his car in half!!
yes I will be at autorama next weekend. I don't know if I will be there all weekend but saturday for sure.
Hey, If I'm rememberin correctly, the shoe box done by Valley Custom, the car recently restored by Steve's Autorestorations in Oregon? was sectioned four inches. That car looks sectioned, kool if that's the look you're after, but i'm thinkin' Lucid ain't after that look! Swankey Devils C.C.
Hey Lucid....sweet lookin chop job. Who did the chop? nice style, nice flow on the roofline. If you did this yourself, was this your first chop job or have you done others? How much time did it take to cut and get the lines you wanted? As for the section...2" is for the most part a waste of time, if you are going to section it, go 4". That is by far the best looking amount for a shoebox ford. If you went to the Autorama this year, did you see the teal blue shoebox with a chopped "carson" styled top there? It was in a display with a killer mild custom merc. It was done by a shop in Holland Mi called Cruisin Customs, they built that thing back in 1992 or so, it was on the cover of custom rodder, and it had a 4" section on it...awesome car. It took home some awards this year again!! You definiatly need to reconsider the section...hell with the way that top turned out you should be able to handle that section easy. Anyhow...good luck and nice job on the chop.
lucidalien didn't give me a great shot to section but here is a armatures attempt at it top pic is actual, middle is 2" section( or = to the wide whites on your car) last is about 4".
