For a 1930 model A tudor sedan body frame fenders ect. I found this car yesterday. It has rust in all of the normal places but comes with patch pannels for most. Has all fenders hood gril shell and a bare frame. The old guy said to make him an offer but not to low ball him. He used to have a body shop so I am sure he has an idea of what it is worth

  3. what are you willing to pay?

he has a price in his head, always ask

"what are you thinking you'd like to get for this rusted basket case pile of parts?

not really never insult someone , but you want them think you're somewhat of an authority in the field.

then something like "you being in the business know all to well the cost to build one of these," then offer about 60% of his inflated price.

anytime you throw out the first bid you will always be way high or way low. if you're way high you cannot adjust that price! if you're way low you can haggle to find middle ground

If you say $3000 and he's thinking $500 he' laugh all the way to the bank

when dealing alway try to get your opponent to throw the first number. sellers will always price above what they are hoping for. so always go much lower.

I hate these guys with stuff to sell that won't give a price.

  5. With a straight face, offer him $100 and be ready to haul it all away. When he looks at you as if you had a third arm growing out of your forehead, say to him "You're the one that wants to sell. What's it worth to you?"

He's angling for a big fish, offer him a minnow. Then you can work out the details of this fish story.

If he won't give you a number, he probably isn't too interested in selling.
I usually just give um my phone number and tell them to call if he comes up with a price. If they call you know they will bargin.

I talked to him again today and I think I can get it for about 2000 if this is the case it will be on the trailer next week. The car wasnt for sale I just kinda stumbeled upon it. Its a good story so I will share. When I have spare time I like to drive the back roads and look down tree and fence lines. well a few weeks ago while out driving around and spotted two 54 Chevys way out in a feild. I stopped but no one was home so I went back a few days later. I asked about the Chevys but he said they were his sons and were not for sale. He then told me he had a few other cars that he may be willing to part with. he took me into a shed that was packed full of old cars then we went to his barn same story. went to the last shed and there it was It had so much stuff piled on it I could hardly see it. I must have spent two hours looking around. When I go back I will get a list of what he has for sale and post it for others.
