well, i got sick of carrying my welder from spot to spot as needed in my garage, so instead of buying a cart for it, i "borrowed" a shopping cart from the local grocery. then cut and chopped it to fit, made hangers for the ground cable, and for my helmet. even a shelf, which was part of the origional "passenger seat" of the cart but shortened to the width of the welder so i can have my co2/argon right next to the welder, heres the pix. for only 2 hours of work, i cant complain

    OK, I'll be the a-hole.

No, you didn't "borrow" it, you stole it - no different than stealing a car. Grocery carts are expensive and add to the merchant's bottom line, so next time you go shopping, don't bitch about the prices. A $60.00+ cart being replaced will be paid for by all the shoppers.
On top of that, every time you weld, you can look at the cart and remember you're a thief.

Harsh ? - maybe, but that's the way I see it.

I was hoping someone would mention the theft before the end of the thread. You can only hope there is no HAMBer living near you that will turn you in. I'm sick of having the price of my groceries reflect the ignorant act of someone who thinks these things are free. My daughter's friend's husband manages a large local store and I could hardly believe what he said the yearly cost was for stolen carts. He said it definitly is reflected in the price they charge. Theft is written off as an operating expense which is used to determine the selling price of goods. ROBBER = OPERATING EXPENSE    He would do it without hands in Frank's world.

  10. I feel incomplete. No pissy baby's ass has ever sat in my welding cart, nor has my cart ever carried a box of Tampax, Preparation H, or a National Enquirer. Damn...

This is getting crazy. Those carts ARE everywhere, you sure don't have to steal one just take one away from some homeless person ( they're usually pretty weak from hunger and can't put up much of a fight).

$60 bucks for a cart? nope, that cart back when new ran better part of 2 bills, the new designer carts run anywhere from $300 to $600 each, the kiddy carts up to $800 each....

    I'm not impressed
