I got 4 15" wheels this weekend. They all look the same. Magnesium slots that I think are 15x5 or 6. I haven't taken the tires off yet. Two of them say Fenton Gyro Racing on them and have a little SEMA badge. The other two look the same, but don't have the markings. What do I have? When were these things made? I think they're cool looking so I'll get 'em cleaned up and most likely run 2 on the front of the Field Car. Here's the front of one and the back of another.
Old school Aluminum Slot Mags, if there 5-6 inch wide, most likely early 60s. Seven inch seem to be the most popular around here. Took me a long time to find 14X6 for the front of my F-1...Nice score!...... .OLDBEET
If they are Fenton Gyros they are definately aluminum. I have two pairs of 15"x3.5" Fenton Gyro front runners. My favorite skinny slot mag.
Fenton must have made quite a bit of stuff back in the day. I have a Fenton "T" handle that looks just like the one Hurst makes nowdays, and my Dad said he had a Fenton 3spd. shifter in his first car. He also said every time he tried to slam 2nd gear, it sheared a bolt and the whole shifter ***embly came up out of the floor. Maybe thats why Fenton isn't around anymore...
I also have a set of Fenton Gyro 15 by 3 1/2 inch wheels. They have a 5 on 5 1/4 bolt pattern. Any idea what vehicle or axles they fit, or what they might be worth? I tried to upload some pics so we'll see if it worked. thanks, Kevin
I have a set on my 61 chev truck. don't know the year, but they are 15X7 with the buick/pontiac/olds large pattern
Well, I'm willing to sell my 15 x 3 1/2 Gyro's if you know anyone who might be interested. Thanks, Kevin
Looking from here, they look to be 7" wide. Fairly common in 15" slot mags. Did you find a Fenton name cast in? Sometimes the names are small - but still cast - and out on the inside rim. If they turn out to be 5" or 6" wide I'd be interested in two at the least.
I have more pictures in my album that show the width (3.5") and the casting numbers and Fenton Gyro identification. Not sure what they are worth, so I might post them on e-bay. Thanks, Kevin
