streching a glass 23 t

    since i can remember ive wanted a t-bucket, but at 6 foot, 200lbs, its hard to squeeze my *** into one. ive been wondering what all it would take to cut a gl*** 23 in half and add in about 6-8"s in length? it would be a fun project and ive never seen one. im sure sombodys done it, and was wondering of anyone here had some info/pics on doing somthing lik this. thanks

  3. dave koory in port richey fla makes a body like that. he has a web site.dave koory hot rods,or something like that. he makes pretty good bodies. i have a 32 3window from him.

    I have a buddy that is 6'5'' and about 260 and has driven a big block t bucket for the last 25 years. Only has had a closed sedan for the last few years. It looks really good when you see the two of us in it, I am 6'3'' and 225, little cozy but fun. just remember, no matter what you do, you will be above the windshield.

    CCR has made a 8" stretch body for decades and will save you lots of grief from the stress cracks you'll get on a modified body after some typical twisting ladder frame road duty.

    i looked at all of those, but they are all upwards of $1200. a guy locally sells tubs for 400 and they are decent quality.figured i could save some money and do it myself. maybe i should just look into a 27 t???

    The '27 has slightly more space under the cowl, and you can chop or slope the windshield to make it more aerodynamic. If you are after a cl***ic look, the 26-27 is hard to beat. Add a late Flathead, a couple of 97's and people will think it's Ed Iskenderian.

    I made my 23 T longer.I am 6.1 and the T body are not what you call friendly for us tall guys.The 26-27 bodies are much the same length just that the dash is back farther in the 26`s then in the 23`s.I did mind a bit different.I added 10 inch to the fierwall and rased up the back of the body to get the look of the 15 T body.here are some pics of before and after the cut

    A 26-27 cowl is a remarkably close fit to a 23 t-bucket body from the dash back. My plan was to slice my 23 body off right in front of the "doors", and mate it to a 26-27 roadster/touring cowl for some increased legroom. I chickened out, but the end result would look very similar to fitzee's car in the previous post.

    fitzee, that thing looks *****in. how did you make the 23 cowl look more like a 27? thanks for all the replies

    has anybody messed with a old dog/main street rod co. body? they have a 23 t 4in stretch 2in wider for about $800, and it has an opening door. they also have a 27 lakester with doors for $720. anybody bought from them? good quality?

    i had a t bucket that was based off the 27 cowl it had much more foot room. wish i knew who made the body.
     
  15. Here's my old car with the above mentioned CCR body.
    I sold the car on Nov 6th (2 months ago) & the guy who bought it stuffed it into a cement barrier about 2 weeks later.

    A lot of guys are running hoods these days, getting more into the Modified look instead of the tall by huge engined Altered look.
    With a hood on it you can extend just the 28" wide T firewall into the engine bay area however far you need and retain the Ford looks of the body and get your foot room too.
    Yes, this would require a longer hood, but that will just look like it's got an inliner 6 or 8 instead of a 4banger or V8.
    Norm Grabowski did this with the Kookie II model A and Ford did it with all the production cars from '33 on.

    It's how Cobra's, MG's, Morgan's, Triumph TR's, and most small inliners get foot room, the foot wells straddle the engine, on some or just takes up unseen under hood space on cars with wider engines.

    Think about it

    Another way would be go with a touring body, stock length or shortened to whatever with the front seat part moved back, etc.
