I've quickly found a way to fill up the space in my new garage. Not so much a mockup, more like a pile of stuff for me to trip over and knock down.

    Can you see it?

And my dad (Drkgrn57) started work on his '63 LeMans AWB.

Duct tape is great for mock-ups.

Badass on both counts! What are those wheel covers on the first one?

I agree wholeheartedly! My first car was a 63 Tempest I bought for 50 bucks when I was thirteen. I have contemplated finding another and do exactly what you are doing with this one. Please keep us posted! Great stuff!

  9. Your mockup looks just like my rpu when I started! Dig the Tempest.

Thanks for all the coments. Hopefully they will both turn out pretty cool.

For the record though, despite it being a "Tempest" Lemans, Tempest's have two stacked round taillights and the Lemans has just the slots. Would have been nicer to find a Tempest, but the price was right on this one.

George - New place is off of Centerville...not 5 minutes from your old house in Rowlett or your shop.

Is dad keeping the Transaxle out back? That was the thing that I always liked about those cars. As an AWB I would think that set up would make for harder launches as more weight over the back wheels on top of the short WB.

Cut the windshield frame off today and got the new one roughed in. Came from a mid/late '30's Ford pickemup. I think it needs another inch out of it.

That 63 LeMans needs a 57 Pontiac rear with ladder bars & coil overs.
Drop in a IAII(Pontiac) 505 CI motor and hang on to your hat...
    Just my opinion...but I don't own it...:)
I've always played with the notion of 63 LeMans/Tempest Pro-Street car. Drive it on the street....and run mid 10 second 1/4 mile times..
    Go for it !!:D

I think the windshield looks pretty well proportioned as it is. The inside curves look like they match up pretty well too. Looks like it will be pretty badass when it is done.

Seems To Me You Are Halfway There! Looks Down Right Fun To Me. Got Any Ideas For The Seats. It Would Look Kick Ass With Some Old Bombers.

It will have full upholstery and the paint will be glossy. And there will be lots of chrome goodies on it.

Doesn't look like much but I got a lot done today. Used some of my tax return for my very own die grinder and some other miscellaneous tools...cut the x-member and front crossmember out of the frame. I'd assembled the front end earlier this week, thanks to a good pair of wishbones from our own Flat Top Bob. Chromed F-1 backing plates came from a HAMB-lurker who got them from another HAMB-er. Going to have to pie cut the rails at the firewall so they'll follow the contours right. Cut the remainder of the subrails out of the cowl...guess it's going to be slightly channeled up front. Super secret weightless motor...patent pending.
