I need information on installing a Chevy 350/th350 into a 1940 Studebaker Champiom. What needs to be moved and or cut etc. I plan to use a IFS M11 type from Fatman. Any photo's would be great. e-mail mchoate1@msn.com.
I don't know what it would take to put in a 350, the only 39-40 champions I've been involved with got big motors, and most of the firewall cut out to clear. I think the small block will just squeeze in there without too much cutting. Figure on making your own mounts, and trans crossmember, and the radiator/fan will be tight.
I don't know the early frames, but I used the Fatman's stub on my '53 champion with no issues at all. If you give them a call, they will tell you if the firewall or aprons need to be altered. I would expect the core support to be untouched.
