Well tonight I am putting together number 11 the first one for this year anyway another sidey powered car for an old Dragracer from the 60,s who used to run a Nitro Sidey........ I am really looking forward to seeing the motor he builds for this one anyway i gotta get my finger out its gotta be on the track for the 31st of march. Im sure Matt will have pics for yall real soon What are the rest of you HA/GR guys up too show me your updates All the best for the New year Guys and Girls
The Ramrods have the ****** out to replace a chewed up flywheel starter ring gear. I purchased our flathead motor from the team member that donated it. He left the team to start his own, and didn't want to compete against his own motor. ...(flatheads are 'spensive to buy)
Cool Larry..... I have another motor borrowed from a friend to replace the 21 stud brute in my car this is a 99A with heads and a Isky cam so that should see me with better times. How many cars are running on the track over there now ? Joseph
updates?... ill add a bit.. got my A ch***is apart, boxed up.... i need to hook up an oulet for the welder at my place in San Fran before i can do any real welding. all pieces for 59A ready to go, ive got a side shift lasalle trans that im gonna try to salvage, otherwise my other options are 53 off a 6cyl. (side shift), and a 51 merc trans... will need to make some adapters eventually to get the torque tube (or driveshaft if i use the later model transmissions) hooked up. at least im ready for a real mockup.. ill take some pics when that happens and post them up.
Sound like your off to a great start gearboxes are a pain.... would you consider the 3 speed toploader ????
Heres a pic of our car taken this afternoon. Its a GMC inliner engine with two fours and a roller camshaft. All old stuff, not really nothing new in the deal. More info at this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149308 We think we are steping away from the norm with a round tube frame, elipitical front springs and rear axle above the tube ( in lieu of on top) Making it as light as we can. Even if the motor is heavy
You might have seen this one already... but here is a HAMBster on a dyno... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftk6OOMO6MA&eurl
Damn, I don't know how I missed that one. Is double round tube really lighter than a single 2x3 rectangle?
That's the exact thing I was wondering. We just got our tube and it's 2x3. Dammit. Oh well, our rear is lighter. And geared right...
