headlights model A early,late difference

    i got a set of A buckets and then bought rings for A ,but the rings are too big...now i find out that there is a diff....are pick up lights different too???thanks

    from the Model A years 1928-31: The 28-29 were one style and the 30-31 was the other style. The 28-29 is more of a tear dropped bucket and they were nickel plated. They had a thin ring. The 30-31 had more of a rounded bucket and were stainless steel. The ring was a lot wider and was also stainless steel. I think pickups were the same for the 28-29 & 30-31. I think some of the pickup buckets for the 30-31 were painted instead of stainless. Hope this helps.

    you prolly have 28-29 lites. they are nickle plated and have "acorn" shape to them. 30-31 are stainless and more hemispherical. all years commercial lite buckets were painted steel with nicle or stainless trimrings.
