Last October one of my customers came in to buy a 6 volt battery for his Model A. I've know him for as many years as I've owned my auto parts store and I asked him if he was going to drive his Model A. He is in his late 70's and was a regular customer at Bell Auto Parts. He lived in Santa Monica and raced bangers in the 40's and 50's. He said the battery was needed to start the car because he was selling it. I told him I would be intereted in the car. He informed me that a buyer was already lined up and he wished he would have known I was interested in it. He told me me I would be second on his list if the current deal fell through. The next day he called me to tell me that the deal went through and the car was sold. Yesterday he called me to tell me the person that bought the car enjoyed the car, but wasn't aware of how "non-original" the car was and really wanted a stock Model A. The buyer would be willing to sell me the car for the same price he bought it for. I couldn't believe it. The car is a 1930 coupe in excellent condition with an original Cragar head, Winfield cam ground and signed by Ed, model C crank, Kelsey Hayes wheels, Columbia 2 speed rear end, 39 Ford transmission, original Stewart Warner curved face gauges, an original Bell steering wheel, and more. I can't wait to get it and take some pictures! Good things come to those that wait!!!
I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how do you sign a cam?? Congradulations on your purchace. Sounds good. Post pics as soon as you can.
And why would you get excited if Gene Winfield signed it? He's not a cam guy. Now if Ed Winfield signed it, that'd be something. Congrats Dmarv, can't wait to see some pictures.
As serious as a heart attack. I have to call the owner and make arrangements for delivery tomorrow. I'll take pics as soon as I get it!!!
Totally understandable under the cir***stances. I'd be shakin like a dog trying to p*** a peach seed if I had just bought that car.
That's basically the theme for my coupe. Not a cheap route but very doable today for way less than most finished rods if you take your time hunting parts. I can't wait to see the pics. I'm green with envy. You didn't mention juice brakes, got those too? Congratulations!!
I just bought my first model a but it isnt nearly as cool or nice as that but hopefully when its done it will be.
I was just doing my daily search for bangers and found this. I can't wait to see some pics of this. Congrats.
Take pics before you even move it from where its at. That way we all can experience your find. ....congrats!
