  6. During the summer you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a cruise night somewhere. Whether or not its to your liking is a different story, as "draggin ***" can attest to. There are many weekly shows - some are organized by the city and even have live bands. I like a variety and its fun to travel to different shows in the Chicagoland area. You can literally attend one every night of the week.

We're not far from Milwaukee, and Indianapolis is only a few hours away. Again great to travel and see new stuff.

Though its no longer summer, the Hunnert Car Pileup in October is the local event for rods and customs.

If you are visiting the area just give a shout out to Chicago HAMBers and someone, myself included, will help you with your plans.

  7. Come to my house and swap the engines in my Rambler, get it running, redo all the fuel and brake systems, then pull the interior so I can get started on that. Bring warm weather 'cuz it's in the driveway.

Or you can come to my house and paint my dining room, hang cement board in my bathroom so I can start tiling, finish insulating the attic, remodel the kitchen, refinish the harwood floors. Hell, while we're at it, let's put a second story on it. Shouldn't take more than a weekend.

  8. A lot of the speed shops & part stores have a free newspaper Midwest Motorsports or something like that that lists what's going on.During the warmer weather there a lot of cruise nights at the burger joints but some of them are pretty lame. The town of Cicero does a pretty good show closing off quite a few blocks due to a good turnout. The Hunnert Car Pileup at Grundy County Speedway in October is a must.

Thereis the World Drag Expo at the Schamburg Expo Center on Jan 20/21. This is very close to the Woodfield Shopping Center. Big mall a lot of place to eat and drink. Pretty big show. There a swap meet, car carrel and the expo. I going on the 21 best time to buy.
