Is the valve geometery the same? This is for a Daily driver project. I have a good 327 short block and need to put together a SB for my Sub. I need the later center bolt covers to p*** smog and all the holes in the heads to bolt the accessories onto.

    Thanks, Tim

The '95 heads will fit and have the same valve geometry. The 2 center intake bolts on each side are at a slightly different angle. No big deal if you're running an aftermarket or late model intake. If you're running the stock 327 intake, you'll have to do some m***aging.

And, if it is an older aftermarket intake, it'll take some m***aging too. My peroformer required some quality time with a dies grinder to fit my '90 heads.

There are different '95 heads too. Vortecs were around in '95 (or not, some of my do***entation says '95 was the first year, other sources state '96), and make sure the heads aren't for an LT-1 either. Easy enough stuff to check for, but I know guys who didn't think about it  . The Vortecs will require a different intake and I don't know what is required to put LT-1s on a Gen 1 small block (if it's even feasible).

All in all, though, it shouldn't be any big deal.

Thank You, I will be running all the stock '95 stuff from the block up. So if I read the info right no work will need to be done. This is going to be better than I expected, this is not a Vortec or an LT-1.

    Thank You again,

Won't the combustion chamber volume be larger on the '95 heads, since they're designed for a 350 c.i. engine? This would reduce your compression ratio.

I had a similar thought. There are other differences like the dipstick is on the wrong side, I'm hoping the tube comes directly out of the pan on the '95. The oil filter will require an adapter and the road draft hole is still in the 327. I also posted to see if anybody close by wanted to trade, but we'll see. Worst case my Sub gets a hot rod 327 :) with '95 top end on it.

    Thanks, Tim

The center 2 intake bolts on each side are going to require some work as they changed the angle of those bolts.

Unless you're going to try to run a '95 oil pan, the dipstick isn't going to matter. The pan won't work on the 327 anyway, that one piece rear main deal.

The heads probably will have larger combustion chambers - a set from a 305 would likely bump your compression up some, 350s will drop it.

The 95 heads are, of course, center bolt valve covers too.

If you were closer, I probably have some stuff to swap that'd work out just fine for ya.
