there may be stickers or something inside the rim, check when you take those rear tires off.

also, when i mentioned the j.c. penney catalog, i must have been clairvoyant, these look like they came off of some chrome slots, check the line of corrosion where they were mounted. what else would be that thin?

for those that don't know, A F/X was the penney's 'house' brand, it was on most of the auto and motorcycle stuff they sold. if one of you guys buy this stuff, let us know.:)

I wish I could find a set! My dad had them on his '56 Chevy in 1966- he chose to BUY a set with his money over a set of Halibrands he could have got for the same amount because Ted Halibrand and my grandfather were old friends- he didn't want to keep polishing the Halibrands and they just weren't the "cool" wheel on the street. I know the guy who still owns Astro plating and his father made all of those wheels. My dad said they used to have huge parking lot sales on Saturday wher you could buy thier "blems"- $10 bucks for ANY chrome wheel!

If anyone has a set or pair of 15's with Chevy bolt pattern to sell please let me know. Thanks Jim

In '66 I was running them on a '59 Ford, I'm not sure where the "70's wheel" comes from

I had them on my first car - a 67 Mustang - cause they were cheap and easy to find back in the 70's. What I really wanted bad at the time was a set of 'Keysone Klassics'

I had a set on a '64 Impala I owned in the early '70's. I thought they looked cool, but they kept snapping off wheel lugs. The center hole was not the proper size, so all the stress was on the lugs.

They probably aren't the size everyone wants but I believe a company reproduces them for Little Red Express Trucks. You can maybe fing their add in Mopar Collectors Guide (MCG on the cover).

Had them on my '59 Ranchero. In my opinion they only look good with skinny whitewalls.I tried them with blackwalls and thought they looked like crap.

    They have always been cool.

When I was a little kid in the 70's they were THE SHIT, so they're kind of special to me.

Back in those days when I was little, whenever I'd see a car on the streets with "mags and stripes" I'd be like "dad, is that a hot rod??!!!"

If it had loud pipes I'd just lose it.

    Good times.

  13. keystones always remind me of gene simmons......weird,huh?

  14. I ran those on my old 57 sedan del back in the 70's As I remember I had to knock off the rivets that held the front drums on so the wheels wouldn't dimple between the lugs.

A guy across the street from me had these on his 62 Impala with the Firestone 500's until a few years ago. He has had the car since 63. But to my dismay he has taken those off and put the stock wheels back on with the hubcaps. It had the perfect rake too. I will post pictures later this week of the car with those Astro Customs on it.

They were the first wheels I put on the only new car I've ever owned. It was a '66 SS396 Chevelle. I took them off when I sold the car and later they were used on the drag car trailer. after about 10 years they were still on the trailer when I sold it. The chrome was completely gone and I used to freshen them up every spring with a coat of spray bomb gloss black.

Here in Texas we called those chromeplated steel slotted dish wheels, boat trailer wheels, 'cause that's all they were installed on around here.
