we got snow and ice this weekend so , what better thing to do then chop the caddy! friday I gutted the interior, and sat. stared the cutting, sunday fit everything and welded parts back on. Dennis' car left wed. for south austin speedshop so I spent 2 days at home relaxing. enough of that, time to get to work on my car!! I want to have it ready to take to paso .

The next part is what will take alot more time-- the windows.
When I chopped my 57 Buick it sure took a lot of work.
    Have fun---Good start.

What are your plans for gl***? Esp. the windshield and rear window.

  12. going to make a nice convertible! did a 58 Impala a few years ago. very similar chop. save all the pieces. they come in handy. try flipping the windshield upside down and try it for size in the rear should be close to the right width and can be trimmed.

Yep no braces, nothing moved , the caddy has alot of factory bracing and body mounts, not to worry as long as you don't get stupid and open the doors and walk around inside you will be ok on this type of car. Now 34 or something like that yes better have lots of bracing. so not to worry boys it will be ok I promise. My plans for the gl*** is to cut down the windshield and use the back gl*** thats in it already ,hince the reason I sunk the corners into the quarters . The other caddy like this I saw chopped the quarter windows didn't work , I plan on making mine work. And yes hahaha It would make a nice convert but I will leave that to someone that can't finish the job, I on the other hand will just tuck my Balls in my pants and get to work. I will post more pics as the car comes together. I would love to have anouther windshield but so far no luck at getting a new one.

Should of called me , I would of loved to help. Looks great.

  22. I can have a new windshield shipped to your front door.
If you drop back gl***, make it slip in from the inside and narrow the quarters and bolt in the package tray. so you don't end up 2 inch gap to fill between the body and the gl***.

  23. Buicks Roadmaster 2 door hardtop and Roadmaster convertibles cross with the 57 coupe de villes W523. won't fit the El Dorado, it's Cad only 57-58 ElDo W530

Good work..I'm trying to follow every detail, t******* the windshield, will you use a slow beltsander or sandblaster? scored an already stripped 57 Eldo, some previous yahoo trimmed the fins off!? I have to find or make fins, and the chrome trim on the fins might be impossable to find, please post more pictures.....
