I am in the process of rechopping the top on mike shea's shoe box due to the hood blowing open at 70, it really messed things up and instead of fixing a poorly chopped top I talked him into starting all over. First thing was to cut the old top off and start at the back at the lead seams around the trunk area, replaceing the package tray and all, this was the best way to fix the chop and replace all the damaged area. I cut it an extra 1/2" in the front but raised it an inch at the quarter windows this makes the windows line up the same highth at the b pillar, and while we were there I leaned the posts forward and 1 1/2", pulled the quarter glass back 3 " longer for a sedan look, and layed the backglass forward to match. This is where you get into a big mess trying to get everything to line up again with out alot of spliceing, so a buddy rolled a piece out on his english wheel for me. Be sure to cut the metal out from under the newly rolled replacement piece, take your time weld, then hammer welds while hot, and work your way around the patch. This chop turn out so nice i am really happy with it, and it WILL be at austin in a week and a half as well as the rest of the kansas crew. see you guys there.

No it was a sedan chopped like a coupe with this big plate welded inbetween the trunk and back glass, and it had small quarter windows. we will try to post some pics of the before and after shots when I'm done chopping it. but the car is a sedan and still has the sedan deck lid and now sports a more sedan chop then the prior squashed look .

  13. It's a shame Mike had the hood drama, but at least he's getting it back together, quickly and better than ever!
