had to buy three duece set-up at swap meet, complete with aluminum manifold, guy said it fit 390/430..hoping it will fit the 361 in my 59 Edsel..they are all in the FE big block family right? my buddys advice is to just hook up one carb and dummy the other two..I would like to hookem all up of course..any opinions, advice?......rixrex
I think it will fit but I'm not sure. It think all FEs are the same. BUT I do know that you SHOULD hook them all up. Set 'em up progressive, it's easy. Hook your pedal linkage to the middle carb like you would normally, then connect the outside two carbs to eachother. Then build a "slide" linkage from the middle carb to the front carb and there you go. You might have to monkey around a bit with the pivot points but it isn't tough. I have built a couple of 3x2s that way, and it works really well. Your old FE motor will thank you.
it will work... my great uncle pulled the hi-po 390 out of his '61 starliner and replaced it with a 361 edsel, he put his original 390 intake, carb, valve covers, and exhaust manifolds on it. the 430 is not the same intake and head design, the 430 doesn't form the upper area of the rocker arm area under the valve cover like the 352-361-390-406-427-428 does. you'll be fine. bigredtodd p.s. why use one carb when three will do just fine(go progressive) the 430 is different, but at leat it's a heavy s.o.b. just like an FE
the 390 ford merc edsel intake in different from the 383 430 merc 410 edsel and 430 lincoln the FE ford 332 352 390 406 427 428 and 361 edsel intake incorporates part of the cylinder head thus it will have push rod holes in it and part of the valve cover rail the lincoln intake will not have these hey if ya got 3 carbs use em john
I've run the same setup you bought on the street in a 67 mustang and on the strip when I transplanted the engine into a gas dragster. If it has the factory linkage, it's great. As long as the carbs aren't worn out, it's a great setup. All the debugging was done by Ford before it was released.
