About 1 hr ago I had the frame almost dropped off that I had purchased from a person in Montana. Brand new built to my specs. The fedex guy opens that back and says "you plan on fixin this?" I was like what! The frame was cracked in half at one of his welds. I didn't accept the frame and called the guy right then and asked for a full refund. Which he said he is going to oblige to. But now I need a frame. If someone can recommend someone preferably in the Milwaukee area it would be appreciated. This is my first time build and would like to start with a square platform for all my work . It may come down to building it myself. But it would help me get this on the road quicker. Thanks in advance.

I can not say enough good things about LRS, inc. Look at some of his other customers if you need more convincing. The welding on mine was fantastic. It was delivered right on schedule and freight was reasonable.

That Bob Bleed is a real AceHole!!! He makes a great frame though. PM Bobbleed or PM me and I'll give you his shop # and I'm sure he can build something that doesn't crack as much as the other one you almost got. ;)

Actually, PM bob but tell him you want Johnny Jean-Jacket to build you a frame. He's the real genius behind that whole operation....

  14. Hi all -

DO NOT...I repeat...DO NOT use JW Rod garage. I had a '34 chassis started by Bob Franks, now a JW employee, who took on my job without telling me he was going out of business. JW owner Darrell Davis agreed to finish it to "help Bob out of a jam". Well, just about everything was f'ed up...rails almost three inches too narrow at the cowl, one rail parallel in rear other angled in, one four bar mount almost an inch forward of the other, motor mounts and shock mounts uneven, and many other issues. Another Chicago guy, numnuts, got a '32 frame recently from JW that was either too wide or too narrow - I forget which.

Sorry, out of business, broke with nothing to give back. If I ever see Bob Franks I'm going to punch him in his fat neck.

I redirected the project from a phaeton on rails to a channeled RPU, corrected what I could and ended up with this...

I'm not a master of anything..... except being fucking cool.

I don't know much about those JW guys.... I got a set of 32 rails from them a couple weeks ago and they are OK.... the stampings seem a bit wavey.... I'm cutting them all up anyway so its no big deal, but if I was building a trad 32 frame, I wouldn't be happy with them...
I did get a deal, so maybe they were seconds or something..

That being said, they seem to have a really nice operation, and the frames they were building looked pretty nice..... I don't know about fit or anything...
They also seem to have alot of frames in stock...

By far the best frame fabricator in the area is Rod at the Iron Master, he is amazing.

Me and Johnny are starting to figure this Hot rod stuff out..... but damn, I still have alot to learn from guys like Rod.

  26. I really don't have an opinion here, but I will say this: when visiting the Wisconsin Dells, don't miss the Tommy Bartlett Water Ski Extravaganza. Fun for the whole family!

  27. Don't forget the "Ice Drags" for your Winter entertainment...!

  28. "Ice Drags"?

Dang, Mark. I thought were talking in Texan, and I heard it as "ass drags."

I guess I'm still interested in going, but it's gonna be a letdown from what I was originally expecting.

Cows are easier to tip when they've had a troughful of Leinenkugel.
