I've been kind of not doing much hambing lately, the robots got me! It's robot season, kickoff was a week ago Saturday, and since then I've spent most of my time talking about robot designs with my sons, and helping the team figure out how to build a robot for this years game. So I should be back to cars in a month or two or three. If you think it might be neat to help out high school students, get them aware of how machines work and how to design and build and fix and operate them, see about getting involved in FIRST. It's almost related to old cars....sort of....
heh....it's getting four of the powerful CIMs, and two air shifted two speed transmissions....six wheel drive...I just hope BrianC isn't reading!
I was heavily involved in Odyssey of the Mind (OM) in high school. We built all kinds of neat stuff and had a great time doing it. I had an inspirational chemistry teacher that gave up all of his free time looking after us. What a great thing. Sounds like FIRST tries to do the same thing. Have fun.
WHAT!!!! Well we're sticking with the stock 2 hamster drive and hanging an extra piece of cheese for overdrive. Actually those Andy/Mark ******s are very cool pieces of machinery. We've seen some of the New England teams use them with great success. Especially with the pneumatic shifting. You should be able to shift-on-the-fly with no difficulty given how beefy the dogs are. Damn right I'm jealous. The most sophisticated tools in our shop are bailing wire, duct tape and *****ies. An' the *****ies are usually gone by the time I get there
Hey Squirrel, When you guys need an arm you might be able to get a couple of ideas from here as well.
