I.D. this grille for me please!!

I am triing to find one of these grille shells for my coupe but I needa find out what it was originally off??? do any of you have one??? thanks

Looks like my 26 Chrysler grill in a way. But alot of them look the same.

Also looks like a 32 ford..

 

What is up JG... It looks kinda like a modded 32 shell.. I got my car and will be hitting you up about the axle dropping real soon... EVILT

 

It's just a chopped '32 ford ... no stock rad shell of that period was that short anyways.

 

Its not a 32 ford grill, I have seen a couple others like this. The top is way more round than a 32 and the bottom is way differant as well. This car is still around but I dont know how or were to find the owner to ask??

Many speed catalogues used to offer similar fibergl*** versions of 32 shells some would be stock and others shortened and have smooth rounded tops since it was already common for customizers to grind and smooth out the waternecks and crease.... it saved many the work if they bought one that way. If working with the original shell- shaving off the brow and waterneck off a 32 you would give you what you see in your pictures. take it or leave it..you be the judge

It looks too flat to be a '32 Ford. A '32 Ford bulges forward in the middle a little to make a shallow V shaped peak if you look from the top. This one looks almost flat across the front. It's just a grill shell without the actual grill, so it's harder to tell.

I'm thinking maybe an older Buick or maybe a Plymouth Model U, or who knows. I'm guessing somewhere between about '28 and '30.

 

It could be a grille from an old European car like: Peugeot or Citroen. The car is from France.

 

Mind you it isnt quite so easy but recall seeing articles in the past that covered the topic. I'm guessing that some fibergl*** body part suppliers still carry something similar(total performance?) The point is, all stock rad shells at that time had fillernecks and usually a crease, however slight(for strutural support) since all hoods were hinged along the centerline back. Eitherway, any original shell of that period...regardless of make would need some smoothing and filling to get rid of their fillernecks so why not the crease as they were at it?

 

I second that, the car has been built in south France, I will try to find the information. Stay tuned.

 

I think Total Performance has a shortened 32 shell that looks a lot like that. Their site seems to be down but I saw this just a couple of days ago.

 

I've asked on a french message board, and it seams to be a french Citroën C4 (around 1930) grille shell, shortened, and with some modifications at the bottom...

Would this be of any interest to you ? it's in my local s****yard, waiting for the crusher to take it away... if the wreck is still there (not sure), I can enquire and probably get it Cheap-O... it's in bad shape but it's a 1930s Citroen C4 Grille...
