World of Wheels is this weekend...they are touting this coupe as the ORIGINAL 32...anyone seen it yet?? is it the real deal or one of ten gagillion clones??? I know the real one is still sporting the camera rig mounts, but I saw a clone in Ohio with the mounts added....
I live 20 miles north of Pittsburgh and Ive been hearing about it for the last two weeks I think its a clone nothing good ever comes to the burgh.
I bought a couple of things off a guy about 2 years ago and he was building an AG 32 replica in Cranberry, PA. I guess he could have it done. I don't know if anyone remembers but I think he had a Triumph Chopper last year or the year before at the Custom Car show (gold metal flake). Hell, he might be on here.
i'm going on thursday evening to help a friend set up. i'll check it out. maybe have to watch the movie again so i can pick out any mistakes
It was in Milwaukee for the WOW show and it is showing all the wear of the original can that has never had anything done to it.
only time i was ever ripped on ebay was when i bought repro clone thx 138 licence plates... i love that car, and the movie
I seen it at the Dallas autorama about three years ago on set up night. Very unimpresses with the way it was built. So many have put this car up on a pedestal for years and after looking at the work it is just another car to me. It still amazes me to think that somoene would even want to clone this car after thousands have already doen it. I would love to have the body though
Thanks for the responses...there was an article on it in Street Rodder a few years back...it was thrown together for the shoot...i seem to remember that when they bought it, it was full fendered, it got the fenders, hood, tore off, the grille sectioned, and shot yellow.... having built some movie cars, i can tell you that the production company only wants a 20 footer...if that. as for it being put on a pedestal....I think that it as well as the California Kid & the ZZ top coupe, introduced a whole new group to hot rods, and inspired at least a few to build their own.....so I dont see it as bad thing, that they are considered icons....would i build a clone?? for a customer, sure....myself? I doubt it...same with the"Kid"...
Just got back from the show.....it IS indeed the movie car....was neat to see it in person....overall the show wasnt as bad as it has been...they cut back on the rice this year , and the bikes were very few...that ugly caprice/ rolls "Donk" that was at Sema was there...they put brakes on it now.....still no interior Paul Lemat was signing everything AG....the car's holding up better than he is...LOL
In 1974 i went on a cross country trek, Ford van, my girlfriend & me!!We went to universal studios & they had THX 138 & the pharohs merc sitting in a lot, just looking real shitty & tired.I had a picture of it, but my ex wife decided to toss all my stuff!!!! I was glad to see it taken out of moth balls & redone. jimV
I own the original skull that hung in the window of the 55, tried to sell it to the guy that owns it and the 32 to replace the goofy halloweeny plastic skull he had in there, he wouldn't pay $500 for it so I tried to get Lemat to sign it, he screamed hell no, its the enemys
its coming to atlanta ga in feb i will be workin the show will see if i can get some closeup shots inside the sanctions and will post them

thats my old car, first old car i ever worked on... gone, but not forgotten, and since i dont have good pics of my current project 31 thats whats up there for now are you buildin a copy of the most out of whack proportion wise hot rod to ever hit the big screen or something? i think its ok cause its in a decent movie and all, but its not even close to bein a cool 32... sorry if im lookin for cool old parts to build a hot rod instead of copyin a movie car and tryin to regain my youth through some shitty 10,000th copy of a car thats totally overrated... appearantly its bad for me to have my own vision
Really? I guess some people are only happy being unhappy. I am shure if you look around you can find more cars you hate to voice your opinion about. Or how about try to find one you like and go talk to them??? Cant we all just get along? ok go ahead rip on me and the car I choose to build....................... P/S it wont change anything
I've got a hot rod or two myself. My current project is a tribute to the Milner Coupe. True there are a few out there, it's a popular ride. But I want one myself. Whether you like it or not is of no consequence to me. But if you want to throw out the 'gay' bomb, you better check your closet. You're probably standing in it.
