Need help on my 51 2door styleline, I have recently purchased a 51, with an 80 model monte carlo, will I run into problems with this clip? Any info anyone has are more than welcome, I am very open to suggestions, also I want a custom interior, what will fit?

  2. Is your stock suspension shot?

The answer to you question about the Monte Carlo is a long YES...clips are too wide for these Chevys along with a host of other things (I can't remember if the M.C. is a full frame car that year...there are issues with that too). People have done full frame swaps as well as clipping the front ends, but most will agree that the amount of work isn't worth the final result. A search here for the word clip or frame will return a ton of posts...many of which deal with these issues and your car.

As far as the interior goes, if it's custom, anything will fit :D

Check you width to see if it is the same. You don't want to track any wider than the factory foot print or you will have turning problems . The wheels will rub. You may also have problems with the steering box hitting the radiator core support. just measure before you cut. TP

The car already has it installed, tracks fine, however I probably would not know the difference!

I have read somewhere? That the front ends you have to be really careful, obviously, since I have so many replies, saying not too, just want to know how much trouble I have gotten myself into, I guess I need to tell ya'll I have only had the car for about 12 hours!

  7. Can you post some pics? Specifically, the front suspension area.

Make sure all the welds are good and that their are some kind of supports at the ends that meet together,If you'r not sure get someone to come and look at it for ya! You don't want the frontend cracking into or worst..
I put my 53 chevy Belair onto a 84 cutl*** frame and it worked good ,I had to add 7inchs to the length ,but the width is the same ,I don't know if they changed between 1980 and 1984...
    Hope this helps..........

any pics of this yet? basically as others have said...make sure the welds are strong. make sure everything is square.

If you need measurments of what the wheel spacing should be like (front to rear/width) I can get you the measurements off of my 52. They should be close to the same.
