I just got off the phone with Deb Butler ( KustomLincolnLady ) from Fort Wayne, In. and she told me the terrible news that she lost her father in a house fire last night. Her step mother survived the accident. Their a great family and didn't need this to happen.

My thoughts go out to you Rob and Deb.

If i hear any news about funeral arangements i will post them.

Here's an article from the Fort Wayne news paper:

Noble County man dies in house fire
Fire claims life of Wolf Lake resident
    The Journal Gazette
A 73-year-old Noble County man died in an early morning house fire, Noble Township Fire Chief Rob Davis said.

Ralph Wiedman, of Wolf Lake and formerly of Fort Wayne, died after he re-entered the burning home to retrieve some keys and was overcome by smoke, according to his brother Frank, of Fort Wayne.

Ralph Wiedman and his wife, whose name was not immediately available, had initially escaped the 3 a.m. blaze. Wiedman’s wife was not injured, Davis said.

Noble County Coroner Dr. Terry Gaff said Wiedman died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

In addition to Noble Township’s fire department, five fire departments fought the blaze, which was under control by 4:30 a.m. Crews and investigators remained on the scene until 11 a.m.

A cause was still being investigated, but it is believed the fire began on the rear first floor of the two-story house, which was destroyed.

In addition to flames, firefighters also had to contend with extremely cold air that caused some oxygen tanks to freeze, Davis said.

Frank Wiedman speculated that his brother, a cl***ic-auto buff, might have re-entered the house to get car keys to move and protect five older vehicles that were on the property. One of those cars was a ’65 Mustang, he said.

Heartbreaking news. My condolences to Deb, Rob and their entire family.:(

Sounds like Debb's Dad though, to go back in after car keys. Even in his 70's he was a go getter, never sitting still, attending shows and just cruzn where ever and whenever he pleased not answering to anyone, not even Deb. He loved his cars.

  8. So sorry to hear about your Dad.......prayers on the way.

I can't thank everyone enough Please put me in your prayers, I am not doing real well, pretty horrific news to get on the phone at work.

I was pretty close to my dad, he is the reason I am involved with cars!! My mother was very ill as I grew up an only child. so everything I did was with my dad. Car shows, indoor, outdoor, races the whole bit.

I hadn't talked to dad since about 5 days after xmas when he called to thank me for the dinner ( one of his xmas presents) but just out of the blue I called him last night :( , I am so glad I made that call, we didn't talk much be we talked. To make things a little more difficult we buried my mother 3 yrs ago on this very day :( dad will be laid to rest with her and they will be together for their anniversary on the 28th.
I guess everything has a reason, and God has a plan.

again thank you all for everything, my family and my car friends will hopefully get me thru this.
Its pretty hard right now, but I know with time it will get better.
Love you all and thanks again for all the prayers.
Your wonderful and thank you Ryan for the extended family.

as with all sad news on the hamb I am totally in awe at the support here.
    Love

Indeed I'm very sad to hear this. Sounds like your dad was pretty fearless! Best wishes to you and your family.
