I had a semi shitty day and was a little mad at myself as I had cut my F finger with a flying sanding disc shrapnel party- after it had just ABOUT healed up from having a complete front suspension pinch italmost off at the center of fingernail- between the frame and crossmember a month ago... Then to add to my misery,I banged my forehead in the same EXACT place as YESTERDAY and was bleeding in my eye........ I sat down and had a Pepsi and rested with a wad of toilet paper on my head till the blood flow was stopped. Then while on my little break is when it ocourred to me ,that I really am lucky I have this job [and hobby], I do. I mean -I get to be around these old cars all the time and great people they belong to, its kinda like a lifestyle instead of a job/work..... I looked around the shop and out front at the cars I am currently working on and awaiting the same... It seems like I was awakened to the fact that it could def be worse! It has always been my hobby and will probably always be -but the work part is a blessing really as where I live is seriously FARM COUNTRY.... I am about the only one in town who does not have 2000 acres of land a combine or hogs.... So I am gonna stop whining and enjoy my situation a little more from here forth, and wear one glove like Michael Jackson to protect my fingers.... Here is a hint of what I am doing currently in my shop/some may wanna see some may not. A 34 5W is here for its 3-1/2' haircut and filled roof insert [91Caprice] and all new floor and rust repairs.... Miles M has a couple of cars in here too, so I am about at full house capacity for this time of year
sounds like you got some sense knocked into you!! Lucky bastard.....i have to work on newer shit boxes.
Oh you GOTTA have hogs and combines SOMEWHERE in your Empire, eh?! Ha Ha...you're tops, Bro...just try to chop the CARS and not your fingers next time!
Geeez, man... Didn't you take a chunk of grinding wheel in the boobie about a year ago too?? Be carefull... -Abone.
I have to get back there for another ride in the Festiva - and I'll eat an actual burger this time too.
And I thought I was the only one who would walk away form a '34 with bloodied hands. I started wearing those mechanics gloves and now those damn things have a million little grinder rips and burn holes in them and my hands have the scars to prove it. I can't win either. I feel your pain Kenny. Vance
Same deal here..........after an unusually shitty day, cuts, scrapes and never finding a pair of gloves with all the fingers in them....lamenting the fact that the work just never seems to get done....a shop full of cars, more waiting in storage, customers wanting it done NOW...I just can't help but thinking what I could be doing instead of building race cars..........and doing them the way I want them done...most of the time...........it could be a lot worse and has been in the past... Just got back from Florida to visit my Dad..........he always asks when I am going to get a REAL job....I always tell him it is his fault...he should have not bought me my first race car when I was 15...hell, I thought it was what he wanted me to do..........lol Pressing on toward 65 now and dam glad to have the opportunity to do what I want. Coffee is ready, shop dog is waiting at the door to "go to work"...and I dam sure need to get off this computer and go myself...waiting in the shop is an altered wheelbase 65 Dodge that has to be in Missouri by the middle of Feb...a 60 Plymouth wagon that is awaiting tubing for the cage and a blown 540, tuxedo black 55 Chevy that is puking oil out the dipstick.......putting off pulling that 8-71 off .........compression check this am, but it is dam sure pressurizing the pan......I really don't want to pull that engine...has a shitty aftermarket rack under it...and will not allow the engine to come out without dropping........... Oh well, the fridge is well stocked with those nice Green bottles, soft drinks are chillin and the "other" is sure to come by also...........will get the propane bottles filled for the chilly weekend predicted, take this dam 55 apart and have a few cold ones.... It could be a lot worse. Mark
I guess it's like old man Frost says around here (every time I see him he's bleeding somewhere) If I'm not bleeding I'm not doing anything.LOL For what it's worth you have my empathy.
I thought Plowboy had trademarked the single diamond-crusted welding glove... Dude, you are living the life.
Kenny, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. ha ha ha I usually injure myself somehow every time I go out into the garage as well. You don't have 2000 acres, but don't you own the whole town of Elmer? Slum Lord! Ha Ha Ha
im not allowed to show the pics i took at kennys shop , but this has to be my fav anyway!and without kennys projects that number drops to 23!!!! im lucky enough to have the man buildin my coupe in a few months!!!! KENNY FOR PREZ~~~~
Damn Breeder,That is an exact mirror image of the only other intersection in town...... and you can disreguard that Population sign ,that was before the rush to the suburbs,Mercyville stole 12 residents and three died so its really not very accurate......they take you off the map if below 100 people nowadays!
no doubt! even though most are freight trains, the shear number of them would triple the population in a day just with the engineers and brakemen... dude, you have the life i (and alot of other guys on this board) have always dreamed of. i would love to smash myself in the head on a daily basis if it was always on some old car. see ya at breeders if the weather lets us.
it is the life! I do nothing but glass in old cars. people actually pay me to spend time with their cars. nice thing about glass is "I bleed for a living" and never see the same car for more that 10-12 hours, and off to the next one. that fast turn over keeps me from the burn out some get from 2-3 years with one project. the down side is I get into their shops and have to look at all there private whord of projects, parts and toys. the up side is I get alot of cast off parts for free and cheap parts cars. "find a job that you love and you'll never work a day of your life"
