My buddies uncle lives up there and told us that a guy with lots of acres below Yosemite died and he had a 3 generations old junk yard with 1000's of cars from T's to the 60's. Anyway he said the only known relative of this guy is a sister from the midwest who is crushing everything. He said he saw truck after truck with crushed cars going through town. Has anyone heard of this? I guess she has no clue what the stuff is worth. There is also about 30 sheds of car related toys. He said they had a crusher on site, I dont know if any are left but what a shame.

Im trying to get a hold of his uncle to get a name or contact info if I hear anything more I'll post it here.

Has anyone else heard of this?

I have it on good authority that this is true. A friend of mine that I worked with and who grew up there knew the old timer, and has confirmed for me this morning that this is not a rumor. So get up there and save stuff if you can, for the sake of all of us.

  4. I hope she...she deserves to...I can't think of a single nice thing to say, so I won't say anything.

This is for real. The old guy died.
The county wants all those cars and parts destroyed.
You have to see this place to believe it.
It is located on Hwy 49.

Cool!! Thanks evil1, for working to preserve our hobby!! I owe you a beer/soda when I meet you! Let us know, my bro-in-law has been looking for a good 50's car project (We have corrupted him.... muhahahaha!!), and I always keep an eye for my Dad, nice to find him a '56 Bel Air 2 door project (like he had when he was a kid) for when he retires!

She deserves to be in one of those junk '70s cars when it gets crushed. As do the county bureaucrats pushing for this.

  11. the place is on 49 below oakhurst, CA. if i am thinking of the same place. worked as a kid at a campground up by bass lake. the place truly is unbelievable. really not a bad drive either, if you bring a trailer, you'll be leaving with a car.

I was there four years ago the place had some stuff but most of it was 60's and newer but really picked over. The the more complete cars were pretty rusty as I remember. I didnt see rows of 32 to 34 cars and parts. I just talked to wendy apparently her father died 2 1/2 years ago and she has been selling since then so I would guess its near the end and most of the good stuff is gone but ya never know till ya get there. I have dealt with a similar situation here in the midwest with relatives from the far coast. The grandson of the land owner here got an ordinance violation for abandoned vehicles, then a hefty fine, then the county placed a lein on his grandfathers old house two days before it was to sell, spooking the buyers and costing him the sale. He had a salvage company cut up two stock Henry J shells before I finally got the number from a cousin back here. Helped the guy sell the rest of the cars (some 25 or so) several years ago, before I knew about JJ. He really had no idea what was on the property because he had not been to his grandfathers in years and did not realize just what his grandfather had collected in the back 40. My initial opinion of the guy was pretty bad, but he was just trying to keep his life together after losing the last relative he had. Nice guy though, especially when he made a few grand off of the cars and parts. My only regret is not keeping a few rides for myself.
