In Ohio, you 'officially' have to have insurance after not requiring it for most of my driving years. But it's a paperwork farce. When you buy tags, you sign a paper stating that you have coverage, but no one checks. As long as you're not pulled over, you'd never be bothered. Most of us buy "Uninsured Motorist" coverage with our policies which is extermely cheap, like $20 a year and let it go at that.

My ***** about this is that I don't want any more government intervention into my life . I'm quiet, peacable, obey the laws and expect to be left alone by the authorities. This **** is just another case of "Big Brotherism"...

BTW, the traffic light and speed camera legalities were overturned in the Ohio Supreme court unless an officer is on the scene to monitor them. Other states are following suit. They've already been disconnected here. Expect the same thing to happen everywhere.

If the police are using this in moving vehicles and the software doesn't have the ability to recognize the position of the cruiser, this doesn't bother me too much. When they start placing cameras in fixed locations and the software is able to create a data base of a vehicles movement is when I think this has gone too far.

For example, say the police start placing cameras in a bar district that you like to frequent. They set the software up to create a list of cars in that area. Over time, they could start to see a pattern of vehicles that show up there "too often." Then that list is published to the insurance companies, or better yet a credit bureau. How hard would it be for them to create an ***essment of risk based on how often your car is "spotted" parked outside your favorite watering hole.

Gee Mr. Johnson, we see you seem to like the liquor quite a bit. We consider that a high risk activity. Here's your new outrageously high insurance premium. Oh, and don't bother calling the bank for a loan to pay it. Your credit score isn't what it used to be now that we know you're a high risk individual.

That's just one example. There's just too many ways for the police and government to abuse this technology.

  4. This video is ****ing frightening!!...I swear as a country we are so ****ed.. as citizens since"The patriot Act" makes us prisoners now inside of our borders, you must have a p***port to drive in and out Mexico and Canada, Fly to the Bahamas..or anywhere else out of the contigous US..It won't be long and you will have to have a "National P***port" to travel between states(for our own safety I'm sure)...I
'm disgusted with the state of our nation and embarresed how we as people continue to be apathetic and allow this to continue..It makes me want to eat a vomit...Id rather die then live like this...God save us from ourselves...and from the Nazi ruled police state that continues to close it's grip around our throats choking the last breath of liberty from our lips....

Next time you plug in to electricity think about how much comes from Canada, and natural gas,oh and we export more oil to the US than any country except Saudi Arabia. We don't like the"big brother"tech either, but it's cut down the number of cars stolen, which is a good thing. It's also cut down on high speed chases, where innocent people & there cars are at risk.We Canadians don't want our roads to become a reality show of cop chases like we see from your state.Canadian and proud of it!!!:D We deserve it?

  6. This is the type of conditioning I spoke of in my last post...as Canadaians you have lived in a Monarchy your entire lives, so freedom is nothin your used to anyway..so pardon us if we don't feel up to giving up any more civil liberties...I E, why we left started the American Revolution 235 years ago, so we didn't have to live like that...and now....we are anyway...Apparently it's time for another one...Look at it this way, with all the video cameras thier gonna install in your country you'll be able to tune into live episodes of "Police Persuits" .....

Funny police depts here asked for cctv cameras everywhere like you forsee, but our privacy commission tuned them down, the camera that targets the plates weeds out the law abiding plates from the stolen ones.I'm sure you'd like to save your ride from some thieving crackhead, without every cop having to memorise the hot sheet everyday. Also we have an elected gov't,like any other democracy, the Queen is only a figurehead in gov't here just like Britain.Canada was given autonomy about 25yrs ago.Do your homework:D

    Wow... 25 whole years!
How cosmopolitan..firstly it's naieve folks like you who believe that they will only use those cameras for license tags...secondly no one is gonna steal my ride and make it out of my yard alive...I don't call 911! Wanna try?

Now if I felt like relpying in likewise diatribe about your government I would elaborate...But alas, it would be as pointless as tellin my dog not to lick his balls...he'd look up and keep licking...

My problem with your statement was your "smug at***ude", like (we "the US" owe you "Canada") some debt of eternal *** kissing... I've done my homework and as far as I'm concerned your number one exports are ****ty weather, 2nd rate cannibus, strippers, and Dudley Dorite...Eh!
