great looking deliveries. i had a 41 chevy sedan delievery back in 1979. always had a hard time seeing out of it
this probably doesn't count as it's too new ('69), it furrin', and I welded up the side windows. BUT; I begged for 9 YEARS to get this car off the original owner, and I love it My corolla;
Your right Jim, It is a 41. It has the place on the grill for the wide piece of trim. T-time,If you don't get it can you cut the area around the the gas tank filler out for me. Someone smoothed mine over and I need this area to repair mine.
I have a 41 SD and the full length stainless side trim is also different than a 40. The rear piece flattens out at the rear with a downward angle , not pointed like a 40. Have also been told by the "experts" that 41s were the only ones that had taillights on bothsides. Both sides on mine have been leaded in so dont know for sure. Dave
Here's a couple from my past:The 60 Chevy I bought in 1968 and it was my daily driver until 74 when it got in a head-on with some idiot who was late for a softball game. The Bobcat was made from pieces of a Pinto and had a 302 in it.My daily in the early 80's The green Pinto was V-6 powered and managed to get me out here to Michigan in 93 where it died shortly thereafter.
In this photo, I believe that the coupe is a '40 std, while the 2 trucks are '41s. The grille on the delivery is similar to a '40 std, but there's some extra trim on the hood. Note that the SD uses p***enger car front sheet metal, and it's different from the corresponding parts on the PU.
Here's the lowdown skinny on 40/41 delivery grilles: The 40 standard p***ender car grille is the exact same grille as a 40 & 41 pickup and the standard deliveries. The 41 pickups and deliveries had a different front hood trim, but it would bolt in the place of the 40's (maybe drill a couple holes). It was just a bit wider. As a matter of fact, a guy could install a commercial 41 hood trim on a 40 p***ender car if he wanted to really mess with your head. As for the sheetmetal, the 40 & 41 pickups used the same front fenders as a p***enger car with a slight bending of the rear flange and the addition of a small L bracket. The hoods are 40 & 41 pickup only. The 40 & 41 sedan deliveries (both standard and deluxe) used the exact same fenders as a 40 p***enger, and the hoods were the same as 40 p***enger too. Clear as mud?
Here a pic of my little beauty. I'm looking for a steering box if anybody has one. It has the slant six motor and I hope to be able to do some magic on it sometime in the near future, after the A is ***embled.
Here is my buddies 46 last week in our snow storm (haha) edsel and loading up my $400 project 48 , its 3rd inline. edsel
I only seen one of these in person. not quite a sedan delivery, they call it a Canopy.. this one is a 37 I found on that infomous site with a a very high "reserve" price tag. for how rare they are I think 100k is a bit too much for this, for me anyways.. still cool though, perfect for saving some $$ on hotel rooms for Paso. But if you can afford this, chances are you can stay at pretty much anywhere at any carshows of your choice. Chevnut
Those Dodge's are always going to need a steering box, my neighbor used to change his every five years till it was converted to a GM power unit about 20 years ago and is still going strong.
Here is my 47 delivery next to my parent's 65 gto tripower 4 speed (that my grandma bought new). That is what made me want a pontiac 455 to power the delivery and is where the pontiac motor blue scallops/flames came from.
