Wanna see some pics custom dashes. Not just a cut down stock dash and welded in to a model A, but let see some that are cool custom made use your imagination dashes. Thanks matt
No pics to post, but along the same lines, has anyone ever used the leather textured metal (from a fridge) to make a dash or door panel? Curious to see how easy it is to work with. -Jeff
I made my own dash using the stock upper sheetmetal, and redid the face and lower part. Made my own aluminum dash insert too, with an integral glovebox hiding the stereo. (I don't like the "looks" of modern stereos) I ain't posting pictures though, my steering wheel is a Budnik. LOL!!!!!!
here's one thats in my 49 chevy truck, I couldnt find anything that I even remotly liked so designed my own on the Auto CAD and had a friend cut it on his plasmaCAD machine....the flames on the right and left of the speedo/tach are backlit in normal operations but when the turn signal is used blinks red, the wings in the top center (I fly for a living) are also backlit normally but go blue when the brights are applied. hard to see the darts I welded into the sides to carry over the eyebrow but they are there and as a package looks flippen sweet! and before you flame me for the blue "neon" it aint neon and I havent sheilded the light to direct it yet....nor have I installed the defrost vents/ducting so I get a bit of light backsplash....and no its not neon just normal lightbulbs painted with model paint....I'm too cheap for neon (plus it looks like chit)
Kiwi, I love your work. Your coupe's dash and door panels rule. I've seen your other bead rolling pieces (as well as your machines) and get inspired everytime. Okay, my *** kissing is done now...........slim
I know this is a narrowed 48 buick dash in my 48 ford, but I like the way the clock and speedo holes mimmick the stock ford. I cut 8 1/2 inches out. then pounded the lower panel from the glove box to the drivers door on a sand bag. hard to see but it has several compound curves. had to marry two ford window frames with one buick to get the wrap around dash
Groucho that thing is bad ***! Eddie what kind of guages are those? Or better yet what are they out of?
This one I put on my '27 Roadster. Some 30's stude face with new autometers and hand painted lettering
My ´50 fleetline, modified orig dash, ´57 gauge cluster , ´54 chev glovebox door in the middle and homemade places for temp, oilpress and rpm gauges. Kaitsu
Not finished yet, but here is the dash in the 48 chevy truck. Glovebox is gone and moved the gauges to the middle. Suprisingly, you can clearly see the speedo and tach from the driver seat....its the gas gauge that gets blocked by the steering wheel. I know the gauges aren't traditional.....but I have owned them for something like 18 years now and am going to use them in something.
Here's one from the Stray kat 500 this year. I don't know much about it, but I talked to the owner for a little while. This thing was awesome and had great workmanship. Everytime I looked at it, I found another cool little detail.... this was just of them.
