Was wondering where I could get this thing fixed I think it would be cool to have the old tube radio still working. Any idea's? This radio came out of a 50 merc dashboard. It lights up but no sound comes out. I tried to hook up an antenna and still nothing. I think mabe the tubes are bad. Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these?

Use to work on these years ago.Is the ******** buzzing? If not give it a few taps with the handle of a screwdriver to see if it will start up.Make sure the tubes are in the right sockets, tap on them to with a screwdriver handle to see if you get a response also clean the tube sockets with contact cleaner. It looks like a philco but I can't remember for sure. Some of those on off controls gave a lot of trouble. If the tube layout is gone I can probably find one for you, make sure you have the polarity of your power supply hooked up right positive or negative ground etc.

How long did you keep it on before you gave up? Back in the day I would listen the the tube radio in my dads 55 chevy and it would take awhile for the tube to warm up and start working.

If the capacitors aren't bad , they will be. A lot of them were made of paper and wax, and are usually the first thing to go. Look for signs of burning, or melted wax coming out of a thing that looks like a small shotgun shell. There are several. Replacements are ceramic, and a lot smaller.
