O/T... Prayers for a sailor

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jthepburn76, Jan 19, 2007.

  1. My younger brother, Matt, joined the Navy a year ago and is being deployed to the Persian Gulf tomorrow morning. He'll be at sea for the better part of this year, if any of you folks can find the time to say a prayer for him and his shipmates it would be greatly appreciated. Please wish him a safe journey and an even safer, quick return. Thanks.

I know how you feel my son (career Navy, 21 yrs) has done 6-7 tours over there. Just got back the first of Dec. from the last tour. He was there 16 months this time. I've gotten somewhat used to it by now, but still worry. Good luck Matt, come back safe and sound.

From a retired Chief Petty Officer (22 years). He is in good hands out there. Our Navy now has the best people and the best equiptment in the world. He'll be fine.

We always keep our military in our prayers. The wife and I are offspring of career military (Air Force) so really appreciate the sacrifice our defencers of freedom go though. My nephew just recently returned from Iraq where he was patrolling the worst part of Bagdad.
Tell your brother to be vigilant and responsible at all times and to return safe.

  29. : Enter stage left, the Sailor in question...
first off, thank you very much to everyone who has posted and who may post in the future. Every so often we get really slow internet on the ship so I thought i'd take advantage of it and register here so I could reply.
I don't remember who said what exactly, and I don't want to wait for page loads to find out so you all know who you are as I'm replying here...
I didn't have a rate designator because they don't count you as rated until after school, hell, I came in as an E-3 but I was an E-1 until after bootcamp. but I came in as a JO (Journalist), now we are MCs (M*** Communication Spe******ts.
and as for the *** paper thing, yea, Josh, please have mom and dad mail a couple of rolls... normally there isn't any, and when there is.. you ever used binder paper? well, binder paper is nicer...
haha, alright, no more talking about ***es and the paper that is applied to them.
What was a "DS"? I think they must have merged with someone else or were just disbanded, I've never heard of that one before..
I suppose I should actually do some work now, but again, thank you all!
