Not stupid at all. The man that bought it has a museum with many Shelby cars and he wanted it and has the money. Good for him. The money will probably go to Shelby's foundation and that is great for some sick kids.

I think it was terrific. Look where the $ went. That man deserves a standing ovation. He's still out there at 84 years old influencing Ford. Hell, I'll be darned glad to be on this side of the sod at that age let alone doing half of what he's doing.
    Bravo!

Shelby said the other one was destroyed. What I would give for a ride or better yet drive that car. It would take two weeks to break the suction on the seat.

Aluminum body, aluminum 427,dual carbs, dual superchargers=800HP! Too bad it was an automatic, but fast is fast. I liked the story about him getting pulled over for doing 190,in Arizona. 0to60 in a little over 3sec. ****!!! BTW,it has Vortec, maybe Paxton, superchargers, not turbos.

I am looking at Hamb and watching the Barrett-Jackson on TV at the same time. I love to see the cars and trucks on there, but most all of them are just waaaaay too nice for me. It makes me wonder......where do all these people get the money they have to just go and pay hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of dollars for these Cars?? I know this is probably stupid, but it is almost unbelieveable isn't it? One guy had the car bought for $500,000 and then went ahead and bid against himself and put another $100,000 to the additional price just for the Hell of it! I on the other hand, am still hoping to pay the Light Bill and House payment on time. How do they do it? I am 50 years old and worked all of my life and still ***** and raise Hell because Gas prices went up a nickel or dime in a week. Anyway, just had to vent for a minute or two. Hope you all understand where I am coming from. If you are one of those RICH GUYS out there reading this, PM me and let's talk about your secret to success!

I think it boils down to more money than brains, and in turn hurting the average joes like us.

You are very wrong......most of the cars that sell today will be resold for more money. "Average Joes" aren't hurt, just jealous.

The guy your talking about brought the super snake for $5,000,000.00 also. Actually that guy since i've been paying closer attention spent over ten million dollars today alone.

Well gramps down the street all of a sudden thinks his heap is a 100000k car because he saw one sell on 'Barett Jackson'

    that doesn't hurt us?

  22. Actually I thought he looked pretty choked up at the thought of the good he was doing by helping out the troops and even more so when the Vette guy let him have the car and said he'd contribute 250,000 PLUS having B-J say they'd not just waive their fees but contribute them to the fund.

Can't help but feel emotional when everyone is doing so much for a great cause.

AsI was typing this they just said why Chip wasn't there for the Hummer auction - was was helping his son with his pine wood derby racer. Gotta love it!

I too wonder how the bidders came into having that much money to spend. I'd like to see a behind the scenes "how the rich car collectors became rich and what they do during the day" show.

In defence of the guy who bid himself up 100k, the money for that car was going to charity (diabetes if I remember correctly), so that was pretty cool of him.

There's plenty of old junk for sale....go grab one and leave grandpa alone. He doesn't want to sell it anyways......just likes to talk to people trying to buy it. It helps keep him entertained between Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.....Bottom line is this.....cool stuff is expensive, and always has been......get a second job.

I guess that Donald is right, but I thought that just getting up at 2:30 AM to be at work at 4:00 AM was pretty darn Guttsy myself! I bet Donald is still wide awake wondering what Rosie might have said about him today! HA!!!

The Hummer going over a million was the coolest thing going on tonight. 100% of the proceeds going to a Military support foundation. they should have more stuff like that.

HOW DO they DO IT? Thats ok Build it yourself and DRIVE IT .. let us normal folks admire your WORK and craftsmenship.

Most of those cars have more money in there PAINT supplies (never mind labor) than I have ever invested in a Hobby CAR.

They are all sucessful at whatever they do. I think a lot just shuffel other peoples money for profit. I was told one Lawyer that put the screws to the tobacco companies has a hard time finding things to spend the money he personally made on the deal.
