Fargo was the model name for Dodge panel deliveries from 1939-1947.
I only ever see them in Canada.
I'll try and dredge up some photos----front looks just the same as the pick-ups.

Parts availability should be good since they are the same platform as the Dodge pick-ups from 1939-47

Here's pix of a buddy's '41 Dodge. He built the bed himself and installed glas fenders. Some parts are availible but not cheap.
It;s got a fully boxed frame 307 / TH350 10 bolt Chevy rear and a Fatman indy up front.

PM Fargoguy, he might be able to help you:) Fargoes were built up to the 1972 model year in Canada as part of the dual-line dealerships. Chrysler cars w/ Dodge cars & trucks, and Chrysler with Plymouth cars and Fargo Trucks. Not sure how DeSoto fit in there. They used to have seperate grilles and trim, but the last ones were just stickers different from Dodges. Interestingly enough, I think Fargos and DeSotos are still made by Daimler Chrysler in Turkey.....

I am still waiting for the person to send me some pictures of what they got cause it didn't sound like they knew what year it was just guessing at it being a 1947

rather than starting a whole new post I thought I'd just edit this one to find out if anyone knows if the cabs and front clip on a 1 ton is the same as a 1/2 ton

I got the pictures of the trucks and they are indeed pre 48's:)

    thanks

The fenders have larger wheel openings for the 1 ton. Not sure about anything else. My dad has both a Dodge and a Plymouth. The Plymouth needs new fenders.

What kind of replacement parts are you looking for? Things like weatherstripping, ruber parts, some brake stuff and the like are available at www.Robertsmotorparts.com They are pretty nice people to deal with, and its nice to talk with someone that actually knows what your dealing with. Good luck with finding body parts, although there are a lot of the 48-53 trucks still around a guy might find usable parts on. Gene

DUDE!!!!! look at all the vintage tin just tossed into a pile BEHIND the panel truck in the top photo. Somebody needs to go and rescue some of it(if it's saveable). Those panel trucks look killer, make a great shop truck/parts hauler.

Flipper..it's on a stock frame with a camaro clip. The rear is a 9 inch with the camaro mono leafs. The front is too wide. We have another one we're going to put on an S-10 frame.

Otherwise it's got the typical SBC with a automatic behind it.

There's a bunch of little body mods. I screwed with the bottom of the grill and the bed was shortened a bit.

I noticed the big cutouts in the grill were filled in, but I didn't really catch the shortening of the bed.

    What is the wheelbase now?

First Fargos were built in 1928. It began as a fleet sales branch of Chrysler corp. After 1932, Fargo sold various Chrysler products, mainly Dodge trucks, with Fargo nameplates. From 1935 on, the Fargo name was used mainly on Canadian and export market vehicles. The pre-32 models had no exact equivalents a**** other Chrysler products. Some of the early ones used fenders, lamps, bumpers and the four-cylinder Model Q engine from Plymouth and rear axle from DeSoto. They even had a Suburban, with two side doors and seating for nine (1929-1931).

In 36, Fargos were same as Plymouth pickups, without Plymouth namebadge, different hood ornament and hubcaps.

In 37and after, Fargos were Dodges with different hubcaps and trim.

The Standard Catalog of American Light Duty Trucks shows last Fargos in 1971.

  25. The '39-'47 mopar trucks changed in '48, but they continued using this cab till at least '68 or so for Power Wagons. I believe they continued to make the '39-'47 style cab in other countries for military and industrial vehicles for many years after that, too.

By the way, if you find a windsheild frame, and especially the windsheild regulator(mechanism that cranks the windsheild out)grab it! They are ridiculously expensive.

I think I just cut some off of the back of the bed. Built it over 15 years ago and forget some of the details.

That tu-tone brown/cream Dodge p.u. is way bad. I guess I have a mopar streak in me that can't be denied. Sure have some great memories of using my dads 51 Windsor with the tartan plaid interior makin out with my high school sweetie in the winter behind the country school house. The radio playing low, the light reflected on the huge chrome dash and the heater blowin hot air out of the big vents on the kick panels. oops got carried away with the good ol days. Fargos Forever! Check out the cl***ifieds on the HAMB. Search for a 47(?) Dodge P/U. Its got a cab, bed , and something like two whole front clips. One clip is a Fargo. All for about $1000.
